ya know there is a funny story tha kinda goes with your shallow post. I went to a conference to hear an autism specialist speak. She was telling a story about how she had always worked with people who had disabilities. Anyway one day she met this man who she adored instantly-but he happened to be blind. She fell in love with him and told her family-they replied-"Oh god just what we were always afraid of you brought your work home with you". I could never leave someone just because they got in an accident or developed a disability. I don't seek out men with disabilities because like most women I have a need to be taken care of in a relationship but if someone happened to someone I loved I couldl never leave them.

Actually - having some handicapped person as a spouse has it's good sides too -

If he/she is legless and armless - you can roll them to the closet and that's that when you're tired of them.

You probably get a tax rebate or something when they've got the brains of a goldfish.

Think of it, handicapped people are more likely to die sooner - take a good insurance.

i would not care if someone had a disability. i work in the field anyway and have met some wonderful people. if i was with someone and they lost their leg, or anything. if i loved them i would never leave them. the human soul is not contained in a leg or arm or sex. in sickness and in health

what if they loose their soul, like in a dental mishap for instance.

Also, think of what you could do what a legless girl and a ceiling fan....

If my hubby lost an arm or a leg, I couldn't just leave.

    But...here's one for you.....
If your spouse was very bady burned, (we're talking 80% SCARRED)
They would not only look like a different person, they would psycologically BE a different person. What then?

No disability could make me leave, I would just have to get help. My wife is greatly loved, so that wouldn't be a problem. I know people I could count on to quit their jobs and move if we needed them to help us.

What about psychological disorders... If your loved one was dangerously schizophrenc (ala A Beautiful Mind) what would you do?
