Methanol/Isoproanol and Morning Glories

So this may not end up being necessary at all, but is windshield washer fluid safe to use for extractions? It lists it's ingredients as Methyl Alcohol and Water. What's the average ratio exactly? I was concerned because it's blue.

I'm using Isopropyl alcohol (70%) to extract LSA's from 800 or so MG seeds at the moment. I was gonna leave them in there for an hour or so while stirring occasionally. Then evaporate the Isopropanol to get the goo. I don't see how days are necessary when most of the shit is out within the first hour.

Straining this is gonna be real fun too. Beyond impossible. I'm thinking of removing the seed mush and squeezing it out over the jar and THEN straining so the paper towel doesn't get clogged as easy (coffee filters don't work worth a shit for this).

Ok so I strained the Isopropanol after squeezing and throwing away ~70% of the mush. It was fairly quick and easy. Then I squeezed the remaining amount through the paper towel onto the plate.

Now I have a small amount of alcohol which smells nothing like seeds but is yellow as I've heard of in every other extraction. I assume the fact that it doesn't smell like seeds is good. So here's hoping to getting something good out of this.

NO dont drink Isopropyl alcohol and dont drink the methyl alcohol either!

 

Yeah I knowwwww. I'd be using Ethanol but you know, 19. I think it evapps with the alcohol because it didn't work, or maybe Isopropanol doesn't work. I'm just waiting for that chance to get everclear at this point.

 

You can use a cholroform extraction for quick evap, but I havent done it myself with mg seeds. I would use cold water. but it takes forever to evap unless you vac it,

 

With the water would the water soluble toxin not be present? You'd have to extract again.

Chloroform? Isn't that in place of the naphtha part?

 

well chloroform isnt water or alcohol so using this method it brings both substances out of the seeds. so its said? since one substance in the seeds is water sol, the other alcohol sol, you can probable use the chloroform first. naphtha in particular is a known high-risk carcinogen and Id stay away from that as much as possable in simple low risk extractions.

 

Yeah I hate naphtha.

 

i know it would taste bad but CAN you drink either of the two alchohols?

 

No. They're both super poisonous.

 

evaporate dont do that...you need the gas to take the oil out of the seed
if you dont gas the seed the lsa will make you sick

 

I say light a match if u use a ethanol extraxt burns slow, but evaps quicker, but thats just in theory, hehehe..

 

use chlroform. throw it in the micro wave. reagent with cold water,extract.

Yeah wow you guys. None of that would work. It didn't work anyway. Isopropanol doesn't work. Tried it.
