ive herd about hppd on here and was curious so i read up on it online like erowid and a couple other sites and have got alot of answers on it but i just wanted a little more help with it , i have yet to try acid i will probly try it during the summer brake with a friend of mine and i most likely will only try it once and probly not for a long time and i am planning on taking 1 maybe 1 1/2 tabs depending on what i get like potency wise but the hppd thing is kind of worrying me because ive herd poeple can get it even after thier first trip so has anyone on here ever goten hppd after their first trip or know someone who has and how long it lasted? thanks for any answers or advice you all might have
I have a bad case of hppd. I wouldnt call it bad though I really like it. You may get it from one time but it wont last long. I have had it bad since november.
... I think I have hppd, it's like the walls are breathing all the time. I would call it bad, because it may mean the end of psychonautic adventures...
^I know for reals. U already have so might as well trip some more! I dont have hppd. I could just be all in ur head just from having a crazy trip. My last trip was fucking nuts and I am perfectly fine now. No hppd for me! If I did ever get it I guess I would learn to accept it...and trip balls!
u can get it from one time, but the window that it could show itself is much smaller than someone who has tripped many many times...it seems to most often be linked to bad trips/traumatic tripping experiences, just like post-traumatic stress disorder...i have a hypothesis as to the cause of HPPD and I am currently working on researching to write a paper on it to publish....hope to advance neuroscience in this field
me too...lol...so much work writing these research papers! plus i think i have to write a paper or two b4 i can write this one b/c the others might be bigger...i thought that the idea seemed kinda ridiculous n almost too simple, but i spoke w/ some neurosurgeons n they told me its a great idea n i should go for it b/c it could lead to something really big...fingers crossed!
I think it is a swell idea myself, actually. However, I disagree that this so called hppd is directly linked with traumatic trip experiences, considering that the burst occurences of psychedelic nature which seem to happen every now and then, coupled with the wavy, breathing, blurry, bright, neon, voices, etc effects, are more often than not, pleasant rather than frightening. I just dont liken hppd, if it does in fact exist, to that of post traumatic stress type episodes. At least, not in most situations I've heard/read about or experienced. That being said, I will still keep an open mind should you decide to share your findings and opinions, Neurodr.
im not saying that the flashback episodes are terrifying, but the physiological cascade that occurs seems to be related. u kno how someone w/ PTSD has flashbacks due to something reminiscent of the situation occurring again, bringing up past feelings that occurred during the experience, such is the same for HPPD i believe. however, my theory doesnt really involve any link b/t the two, its just an observation i made that seems like it could provide a link if one or the other (HPPD or PTSD) is figured out.
I took an under-grad neuroscience class and did pretty well in it but unfortunately my formal education in the field had to end there due my inability to conquer chemistry.
In all honesty though, good luck man. I applaud your efforts, but the last time I tried to do my own research, unprovoked and on my own time (Ive never been in college, never did highschool work) I attempted to lay out my thoughts concerning the connection between epilepsy, seizures themselves, hypnagogic paralysis, psychedelic drugs as well as opiates and how they all, throuth my own wealth of experiences (minus the epilepsy, this experience is through observing a child who has it bad) and was never even responded to by the various research foundations, specifically asking for any information regarding the topics. Pretty sad if you ask me, it seems like the minute you include the word "LSD" in your research, your no longer a professional, but rather a joke. Namaste and good luck friend.
sourdiesel...where u undergrad at? relayer...i was told by the surgeons to write the paper n i have to submit it to the journal of hypotheses to be read and hopefully picked up by someone...i do kno that LSD or any scheduled drugs for that matter kill most research ideas in the field, which is extremely disappointing. i am thinking tho that since this idea shouldnt require any administration of the drug and would simply base results on past users it should be okay in that respect. maybe u should try simplifying ur idea, start with just one aspect of what u want to accomplish/find and write a paper specifically on one thing...thanks for the support guys!!
nice...its such an infinitely deep subject...always growing, always learning new things...i think theres a book by timothy leary called "your brain is god"...i would like to get a chance to read some of his stuff. anyways, to kind of get back on track, i think most would say dont worry about the hppd...lol...its a free trip, enjoy it while it lasts, its not usually very debilitating or overwhelming or anything, mainly some slight-moderate visuals as far as i know
There are post-LSD panic attacks, which usually happens when you're really high and you think you're tripping again (not a very fun experience), and then there is HPPD, which is lingering visuals. A lot of people have very mild HPPD after one trip, but it goes away quickly. I tripped too many times in too short a period of time, and a few months after my last trip, my vision still has a lot of static. It's kind of annoying and makes me feel guilty for tripping too much, but it's not a big deal.
i have hppd. not from acid but from a combination of the dozens of other drugs i have used and abused
