    Hey there guys and gals...

I was wondering, when you got engaged did your boyfriend or girlfriend act different before? Did you have hints? My boyfriends been acting weird (in a good way) and alot of my friends seem to think that he's going to ask when he gets back from mexico on the 23rd....even my mums been hinting at it and they talk alot.

And please, only answer the question about I really don't need any "your only 20 your too young" comments. Believe it or not I am very aware of my age!

    Love

    XoXoX

well, my bf and arent a normal couple, so i dont know how good an example we are... but he wants to make it as much of a surprise as he can when he actually proposes. weve talkeda bout getting married, he wnats to propose around our one year anniversary (which is awfully soon) but hes trying to not have any funny behaviour because he wants it to be a surprise

Based on the limited info you give, I have nothing to offer.

I'm not engaged but some of my friends are already engaged or married.

The thing is, both in the relationship start acting and doing everything a married couple does, and then one day they just make it official.

I mean for example a friend of mine and his girlfriend got a place together at 19 when my friend went to a University that was far from him, she went with him with nothing to do.

I mean for 2 years he was going to University and she was working and cooking for him.

Then he got a job finally ( although he did work in the summer ) and proposed to her at the end of his 3rd year.

    It usually doesn't just, happen.

Well, I've known him for like 7 years, we've been going together for awhile, we more or less live together, he's been talking about marriage alot, he took me to our jewellry store to look at the ring that I like. He's told me to take off the 23rd, which is the day after he gets back from mexico, he's been talking to my mum in secret alot so I'm not sure....alot of my friends lean towards yes but I'm trying very hard not to get my hopes up because I will be very disapointed if he doesn't ask, because we are a wonderful match for one another.

    Getting your hopes up??

Listen, with what you just listed if he doesn't propose then he's one hell of a postponing bastard.

20 is by no means a bad age to be engaged, you should have no problems if you have such a long history and know what you're doing.

lol I didn't even know I was going to propose although I already knew that I wanted to spend my life with her. I was in her apartment one night and I just blurted out "I want to marry you". And she said, "Me too." :)

Some people act weird others don't. You know your boyfriend so what do you think.

I hope if for some reason he doesn't pop the question that you do not take it personally. Some people just take longer than others.

    In my case:

My husband and I had discussed getting married, but nothing was set in stone.(After my divorce I was REALLY not in a hurry to walk down the aisle again.) One day we were at the mall and went into a jewelry store for our "if we got married what kind of rings would we buy" browsing. My husband found a ring that he really liked, and it happened to be on sale. Later that day I went and bought the ring because it was the first and only ring he actually liked. That night we went out and I was acting a little weird. He asked me "what's wrong? Work bugging you?" I just looked at him nervously and tossed the ring box in front of him and quickly said "you don't have to wear it if you don't want to, but you liked it so I bought it for you" and went back to playing my poker machine.

He was beyond shocked that 1.) I bought him the ring (it was pretty pricey and he knew I wanted a few things for myself that I gave up to get it) and 2.) that I gave him the ring. It was my way of saying "okay, now we can get married." It wasn't romantic, but it was funny. It wasn't something anyone would have expected me to do which makes it funnier. We still joke about it...."I could have had new furniture, but Nooooo you just had to have the expensive ring." or "You love me more than a new living room set" Guess you have to be us to find the humor in it. ;)

I got my new living room set a few weeks later when I hit a royal flush on video poker, so it's all good! ;)

I'm 21, been with my brilliant boyfriend 3 years next month we've got a mortgage and two dogs together. He mentioned getting me something very special for my birthday last year and referred to it being jewelry. Turns out it was a locket with his and our dogs pictures in. I was a little disappointed but tried not to let it taint my joy over what he got me and i do consider it very special. I hope if that's what you want then that's what he's acting strange about but try not to be too upset if it isn't. We've spoke about marriage and he says it's something we'll do when we've got nothing better to do. I've decided if he doesn't propose in the next four years i'm going to propose to him on February 29th next leap year.
