I posted this in Fashion and Crafts, but no one really replayed, well a few did but may be I'll get more replays here...

I need some Ideas for decorating my room, it's not that big, but it's not really small either (I think its 11x12 foot, not sure though), any way, up till now I kind just had random stuff around, it was pretty much just a lot of junk in there, but I'm getting sick of it, so I cleaned it out, now it looks kind bare, like I need a theme or something, so I was thinking of doing, like a 60's/hippyish/psychedelic/trippy theme thing, so does any one have any ideas for decorating it (any thing would help, I'm going to redo the hole room), and does anyone have any sites that might either sell stuff, or have any ideas?

any help would be appreciated...

Oh, one more thing, if my room is 11x12, what size black light(s) do you think I should get...

 

in my room i have two 48 inch blacklights in my room and its about the same size, it works great, i screwed them into the celeing useing sheet-rock screws and wired them up to my closet light switch and then bought one of those light sockets that you pull on the cord. all in all the black lighs, fixtures, screws, ex. cost me under 50 bux, i bought one of the black lights at home depo when i notesed there were only 15 bux! those 2 black lights lights up my room work competely great! no matter where you are in the room. but you could probly go with smaller ones and it would be fine. what im about to do with my room is get a big white sheet and tie-die it and cover one of my doors with it or a large secton of my wall, hell i might even cover the whole wall! i also have a few black light posters and im about to buy some beeds for my closet door cuz i took the door off . one thing i bought that i really think makes my room great is my aroma oil diffuser. you can buy them online and you basicly evoperate aroma oil that is deluted with water, smells great, verry relaxing. i hope this helps!

 

Maybe hang some beaded curtains on your doorway...when I was in high school, I cut out tons of pictures from magazines and put them on the walls. I also cut out random words and made this crazy sentence that went around my whole room. All the other ideas I have are probably too girlie for you!

 

i usually just do whatever i like, i got some cheap posters and lots of random stuff i've collected over the years...

 

Get some green leafy plants. They aren't that expensive, they make the air nicer, and they look great.

 

Get some blank canvas and paint and paint yourself some wall hangings.
Sometimes I find stuff on the net that I like, you know pictures and stuff, then I print them out and blow them up on a colour photo copier and Viola! you have a poster which no one else does!

Go for any fabric you like and drape it for curtains, or even pin it to the celing. Find some shitty old couch cushions and re-cover them in funky materials. Perhaps pin some old LP covers to the wall in 3's or 6's, it looks wicked and you can find some cool ones. Melt some records and make them into bowls by pushing them into other bowls when soft. You can fill them with all your trinkets.

Paint your walls a fresh funky colour, or two or three. and keep your eye out for groovy throws and doona covers for your bed.

 

oh and a few more things, Dont forget you can pick up old furniture and paint it, cover it with contact or wall paper or glass, or anything. YOu can often pic up old lamps and things to create groovy light effects with.

Try a rice paper lantern for your main globe, they're pretty cheap and look really hip.

Invent interesting ways of storing your cds dvds, and other stuff so you can make a display of them rather than hide them away.

if you play an instrument, leave it on display, or pick up cheap crappy guitars and other instuments that dont work from secondhand charity stores and funk them up with paint and glow in the dark stuff.

Cover the front edge of your telly with fur or something cool.

I guess, really what I'm saying is, check out thrift shops for old shit you can make look cool with a coat of paint or a fabric covering and have fun

i'll be sure to take pictures of my room when it's finished being decorating (by moi, of course) it's going to have light blue walls, a bit darker blue carpet, but about the color of a mid day sky, then a full mattress (with box spring) and a down comforter and silk sheets aganist the one wall with sheer white material surrounding it like a veil, then have a white desk with my computer (already accomplished) and have white sheer curtains (check) with the trees outside (check!) and a glass table with white material on it for my lotions, i have a silver tray with old glass perfume bottles that i'll put on there, and candles and incense are a must. ok, proceed

 

y dont stick pictures of the sky on your ceiling?
