Time scale?

    why do you belive you contracted a std? Was she/he a scank or something?
    A std culture takes a few days to come back. and giving you antibiotics without reasonable proof would be a dive in the deep end..
    hiv test takes weeks to recieve, and hiv virus isnt going to mutate overnight either. youll would still have to wait a week for a test result from a blood test taken five minutes from now!

    I think its about a month for HIV antibody (your body's immune reaction which can tested for) to be present in most people. But I've also heard of false negatives up to three-four months. Best thing is to go staight away to a clinic. They can test you for everything else, which is a lot more likely then HIV anyway, and they can tell you for sure about HIV testing/
