Im going to rothbury this year and my boyfriend says there will be tattoo artists there. 1. is this henna tattoos or real tattoos? and 2. does anyone know if this is a good place to get one, or should i just stick to my normal artist?

Ive got a new found love for tattoos. and being so excited about this fest itd be cool to get one there. I just dont want it to fade all quick n stuff.

    A tattooist needs access to:
    1. running hot/cold water
    2. Isolated work area away from other people to contaminate things
    3. Non-porous work surfaces
    4. auto-clave

to be responsible about hygiene. Not having these things makes it very hard to keep things sanitary. If this is a real tattooist(not henna), I would recommend against getting the tattoo at the festival. If you really like the tattooist, ask what shop he works in and go there. It will be a lot cleaner than some camping/music fest.

    Cheers

my sweetie got one of his fave tats in a parking lot back in 80-something, but it was a set up van.
I would NOT trust an artist willing to tat in dirt. No how, no way.

Seeing as this is Rothbury's first year I don't know if anyone can say for sure, unless someone out there is planning on "vending" tattoos... for the record, at most festivals it's common to see Henna tattoos being offered, but I've hardly ever seen real ink being done at a festy, at least not in a professional sense..

If the guy has a professional set up and lots of pictures of his work I might give it serious thought. I couldn't give a relevant opinon without seeing his set up. Even if the set up was a little sketchy but I htought the guy really knew waht he was doing I might consider getting a small peice somewhere if I was super stoked about the festi and having a super good time. I say check it out once you get there and use you're own judgement as to whether or not you wanna let this guy work on you.

I know this is an old post, but - there will be a henna artist at Rothbury! :) No real tattoos - they aren't allowed, at least officially. My booth is called HypnoticHoops & Henna and we'll be in the energy fair area, near the main entrance. We're bringing hula hoops, henna, and original artwork. yay! You can see some of my henna art here: www.virb.com/gypsygirl.

    See ya there!
