Today, me and my mate were walking home in the sun, and I took my shoes off, as did she. It was so good, after not barefooting outside for at least 6 months! Although, my friend was wearing a short black dress and black jeans and we passed some kids who yelled "dirty skanky emo" Just pretty funny...annoying...that people are so narrow minded. I don't care what adults think but teenagers my age, think your a freak/tramp ha ha. Anyway, who else is looking forward to a shoe-free summer?! Can't wait to start walking up the back road after school, shoe-free Hope I see some more barefoot people around, never see anyone in England enjoying the ground under their tootsies
ooh mememee. Although I did it today, it was only from my friends car to my front door.. but eh.. it's a start. A cold start.. but a start! haha! Where abouts in the UK are you?
I totally agree with you, velvet smoke. I'm in my teens as well, and I know a lot of ppl who think their opinions are 'correct' in every way. But, I also know some ppl my age who do go barefoot. I'm going to start barefooting again soon, since summer is approaching.
I am always disappointed at the reactions of very young people to alternative lifestyles. I expect it from fellow boomers who forgot what it was all about, (or who never knew,) and I might expect it from those who are much older than I, but from the next generation? Anyway, yes, the bare areas between the snow are increased, and I can work for a time on such landscapes, crossing snowfields as needed (or for cleaning off mud, feels very good!) The sun is so powerful by early April that even on sub-freezing days, if there is sun, one can work in it very comfortably, even barefoot.
It was 55 degrees F here today, and I went out back to do homework for a while barefoot. The ground was surprisingly "bare"able, and it was in the shade! I don't plan on actually walking barefoot until I don't need a sweatshirt. Once I can go in a t-shirt and jeans, I might think about it. What sucks is that I have to start off slow because my parents only allow me to go on sidewalks and in the yard barefoot <_<
Unusually, i've been able to go barefoot most of this winter because of the mild conditions (n.e. England), but the wind has just swung around to the north, bringing near freezing temps, so its back into shoes for the time being..
It's finally spring-like in NJ, and being able to go barefoot again is one of the best things about this time of year. It is seriously one of the things that pulls me through the crummy winters. I sure hope we don't get another cold snap...
It makes me very sad they associate emo's, respectitive people, whit skank as your kind... Get civilized will you. It's 2008 and we just don't have time to wait for a couple of monkeys...
it is sad to hear the comments of young people. one would think young people would be more open and accepting of diversity. unfortunately, do not be discouraged. if you look at the ages of many of the posters in this forum you will note we have fought the battle to keep our feet bare and will continue to do so. if you would like more information about this wonderful lifestyle go to the society for barefoot living's website. go to yahoo groups or myspace groups, there are numerous barefoot discussion gruops. these will provide you with support and positive feedback. keep em bare, velvet smoke
I started barefooting outside again last week. What a feeling! I love it after being cooped up in shoes all winter. The pavement, my dirt driveway, the rocks, it's all wonderful for me.
