Thanks guys. 1. What motivated you to become a vegetarian/how did you get started? (Religious, moral, health reasons, etc.)? 2. Was switching from a meat diet a hard transition, or was it relatively simple? 3. Did you ever question whether it was the right choice for you? 4. What motivates you to continue this lifestyle? 5. Do you see yourself being a vegetarian your entire life? 6. Do you know other people who share the same beliefs; (did this make it easier for you)? 7. Do you think Drew University is conscious of vegetarian’s; does Drew cater well towards their needs? 8. Are you aware of the environmental benefits associated with a non-meat based diet; if so, what specifically contributes to a better environment? 9. Has being a vegetarian led you to try cooking on your own? 10. Has vegetarianism notably affected your health? Are you aware of the health benefits of vegetarianism?
1. What motivated you to become a vegetarian/how did you get started? (Religious, moral, health reasons, etc.)? I NEVER remember liking the taste. I quit eating meat at 11 when my mother stopped forcing me to eat it.IDK why, even before I was aware meat was an animal - I never liked the taste or texture. 2. Was switching from a meat diet a hard transition, or was it relatively simple? When I quit eating meat all together- it was because my mom who was pregnant was having trouble digesting meat protein-until then she had forced me to eat meat fearing I wouldn't be healthy without..when she realized she could do it pregnanat she stopped making me. I DID become a bit anemic, around that time..from both not getting enough iron, loosing weight, and just becoming a woman all around that same time. 3. Did you ever question whether it was the right choice for you? no.There are soooo many reasons to be veg- health, enviormental, animal rights..and to top it all off I don't remember ever liking meat,so I just don't get the point. 4. What motivates you to continue this lifestyle? At this point, It isn't about taste anymore-like it was when i 1st became veg. It is more about health. Not having to worry as much about contamination, excess fat, enviormental issues-or what exactly happened to my food before it reached my table. 5. Do you see yourself being a vegetarian your entire life? Yes,definatly. Hopefully vegan...I am working my way towards it but afraid to make that leap. 6. Do you know other people who share the same beliefs; (did this make it easier for you)? when I first became veg:NO! Not at all. I lived in a tiny town in the middle of no where-no one seemed to understand. My husband recently -in the last few years- became a vegetarian ,too. In recent years i have met more and more vegetarians. The internet has introed me to vegans and raw food. 7. Do you think Drew University is conscious of vegetarian’s; does Drew cater well towards their needs? no idea 8. Are you aware of the environmental benefits associated with a non-meat based diet; if so, what specifically contributes to a better environment? I am aware their are enviormental benifits to a non-meat diet. Though,I think enviomentally speaking- any diet that consumes less mass marketed packaged items are better.vegetarian diets TEND to compared to meatbased diets- but there are exceptions. 9. Has being a vegetarian led you to try cooking on your own? No,I am a sucky cook.I married a cook..and he does seem to have fun tweeking recipes to be veg. I am learning recepies now that I am pondering becoming vegan...and trying to eat less dairy in general 10. Has vegetarianism notably affected your health? Are you aware of the health benefits of vegetarianism? I think so. I think it has definatly affected my hubbys health.I think we are much more fit than if we had meat in our diet,Our choloesterol is lower.
1. What motivated you to become a vegetarian/how did you get started? (Religious, moral, health reasons, etc.)? Health reasons started it then I started reading the animal rights stuff, and knew it was the only way to live. 2. Was switching from a meat diet a hard transition, or was it relatively simple? It wasnt that hard for me. There are always moments that arent easy (eveyones going to eat wings and I cant go bc the place has nothing I can eat) 3. Did you ever question whether it was the right choice for you? never 4. What motivates you to continue this lifestyle? how good I feel (spritiually, and health wise) 5. Do you see yourself being a vegetarian your entire life? Yes I also plan on raising my kids this way. 6. Do you know other people who share the same beliefs; (did this make it easier for you)? nope, and it didnt change anything about it. 7. Do you think Drew University is conscious of vegetarian’s; does Drew cater well towards their needs? My university sure doesnt...dont know about yours 8. Are you aware of the environmental benefits associated with a non-meat based diet; if so, what specifically contributes to a better environment? It does, but not on a small scale. I just refuse to be part of the problem. 9. Has being a vegetarian led you to try cooking on your own? some, its hard in a dorm 10. Has vegetarianism notably affected your health? Are you aware of the health benefits of vegetarianism? I feel better, and like Im in better shape. Only the long run will tell if I get all the benifits.
1. What motivated you to become a vegetarian/how did you get started? (Religious, moral, health reasons, etc.)? Started out for health reasons. 2. Was switching from a meat diet a hard transition, or was it relatively simple? Pretty simple for me, hard on my family. 3. Did you ever question whether it was the right choice for you? Occasionally if I'm having a bad day or my husband is loading the house up with junk. 4. What motivates you to continue this lifestyle? My health, animal rights, the environment. 5. Do you see yourself being a vegetarian your entire life? Most of the time. Sometimes I get discouraged but so far I'm sticking with it. 6. Do you know other people who share the same beliefs; (did this make it easier for you)? Only a couple and they are not people I see all the time. 7. Do you think Drew University is conscious of vegetarian’s; does Drew cater well towards their needs? I have no idea 8. Are you aware of the environmental benefits associated with a non-meat based diet; if so, what specifically contributes to a better environment? Eating lower on the food chain helps the environment. If a cow has to eat acres and acres of grain to become meat, why not just eat a much smaller amount of grain and forget the meat. 9. Has being a vegetarian led you to try cooking on your own? I have always cooked. I am getting back in to cooking more foods that are healthy instead of the junk out of the box my family wants to eat. 10. Has vegetarianism notably affected your health? Are you aware of the health benefits of vegetarianism? I've lost weight, my blood pressure has come down, my blood sugar is getting lower all the time, and my triglycerides are coming down. Yes, I'm healthier.
1. What motivated you to become a vegetarian/how did you get started? (Religious, moral, health reasons, etc.)? Moral reasons really, the whole factory farm peta video thing got me 2. Was switching from a meat diet a hard transition, or was it relatively simple? simple, i just said "no more" and i was good 3. Did you ever question whether it was the right choice for you? no it was prolly the right choice, i dont think its affected me negatively very much, i think i've learned more about how others accept poeple who think differently 4. What motivates you to continue this lifestyle? environmental benefits really, world hunger and resource issues as well, they're all more important to me now than the whole animal thing is 5. Do you see yourself being a vegetarian your entire life? yes and no....yes, if thats how life works out, but it could be no. i mean, i want to do volunteering abroad and go travel to different countries, help impoverished areas, and if offered certain types of meat that wouldnt make me too sick, i wouldnt be too quick to say no, its rude and just plain wrong to refuse when people dont have much to offer 6. Do you know other people who share the same beliefs; (did this make it easier for you)? yes i know plenty of vegheads, and it does help some, especially when people ask questions or kid around about it, i can kinda push it off me and share it with some others 7. Do you think Drew University is conscious of vegetarian’s; does Drew cater well towards their needs? k, this is a funny question, my name is Drew...and trust me, if i owned this uni, it would be totally catered to their needs....otherwise i have no clue where that is 8. Are you aware of the environmental benefits associated with a non-meat based diet; if so, what specifically contributes to a better environment? yes 9. Has being a vegetarian led you to try cooking on your own? i would cook anyways. 10. Has vegetarianism notably affected your health? Are you aware of the health benefits of vegetarianism? its harder to put on weight..and it would be harder to buff up if i wanted to i guess
1. What motivated you to become a vegetarian/how did you get started? (Religious, moral, health reasons, etc.)? It was a matter of ethics. I started realising it was wrong to kill animals for food, especially when we can live happy and healthy lives without it. 2. Was switching from a meat diet a hard transition, or was it relatively simple? It was easy because i felt it was wrong to do otherwise. 3. Did you ever question whether it was the right choice for you? I have in recent times because it has felt like i'm doing it out of habbit not passion. Deep down i know it it the right choice. 4. What motivates you to continue this lifestyle? The constant belieft that what i'm doing is right. I don't think i'd be able to live with myself if i went against my morals. 5. Do you see yourself being a vegetarian your entire life? I'm vegan and yes definetly! 6. Do you know other people who share the same beliefs; (did this make it easier for you)? I know of a few people but i didn't meet them until i had been vegan for a while so they haven't had any impact on making it easier. 7. Do you think Drew University is conscious of vegetarian’s; does Drew cater well towards their needs? I'm not familiar with this uni. 8. Are you aware of the environmental benefits associated with a non-meat based diet; if so, what specifically contributes to a better environment? I don't know alot about environmental impacts, just about animals waste polluting rivers. I do believe a non meat diet would be alot more positive for the earth. 9. Has being a vegetarian led you to try cooking on your own? Very much so. I now cook the majority of my meals. 10. Has vegetarianism notably affected your health? Are you aware of the health benefits of vegetarianism? Not that i have noticed but i do eat quite healthy foods so i'm sure in the future i will see the affetcs of this.
Ooh yay I'll do it! I hope its not too late! 1. What motivated you to become a vegetarian/how did you get started? (Religious, moral, health reasons, etc.)? I was aware of the abuse of animals in factory farms, and I just thought eating meat was kind of strange so I stopped. 2. Was switching from a meat diet a hard transition, or was it relatively simple? It was very simple. 3. Did you ever question whether it was the right choice for you? I always knew it was healthier if I ate a well-balanced diet, and I do, so I never really questioned it. 4. What motivates you to continue this lifestyle? Health, animals, variety of foods, all kinds of things. 5. Do you see yourself being a vegetarian your entire life? Yes. 6. Do you know other people who share the same beliefs; (did this make it easier for you)? Yes I know a lot of people, but most of them I met or became vegetarian after I did (not that I influenced them to my knowledge). 7. Do you think Drew University is conscious of vegetarian’s; does Drew cater well towards their needs? Dunno 8. Are you aware of the environmental benefits associated with a non-meat based diet; if so, what specifically contributes to a better environment? More than half of the grains are forced fed to animals which could feed the planet's people. And factory farms are just horrible for the environment in other ways I'm not totally sure of. 9. Has being a vegetarian led you to try cooking on your own? Yes actually, now I love to cook and I'm always doing it. I don't think I would want to cook my own meat if I still ate meat. 10. Has vegetarianism notably affected your health? Are you aware of the health benefits of vegetarianism? I haven't noticed any big difference because I usually ate healthy before going vegetarian, but I do feel good and healthy! I also noticed soon after that it was nice not having to worry about undercooked food killing me.
