Hey everyone I'm a moderate meditator but i've been trying to devote more of my time to it recently and I've started to wonder about kundalini yoga. I'd really like to experience a kundalini awakening, it sound life changing. However, I don't really know how and some people say that practicing kundalini yoga is DANGEROUSLY POWERFUL and if you try to learn it without a guru you could really get hurt or even go insane! So my questions to you are: Should I go for it alone or find a guru? Have you ever done it or had your kundalini awakened?
Well, don't worry too much about getting hurt or going insane. Don't try and control the kundalini. This is a mistake many people make. Kundalini flows on its on....there are methods of awakening it, and rising it, but just feel it out. I've been working with Kundalini for a couple years and I realized I've been working with it my entire life. When you try and control the flow, you can move it wrong, and it can get stuck, and that's where the problems arise. That's why if you just let it flow naturally you won't have any problems. If you seek to understand this, then yeah, find someone that knows whats up. I like to start off my Kundalini sessions by stomping my feet then I dance fluidly to some awesome music, like water then I activate my solar plexus by doing leg stretches laying on my back then I meditate on the heart, and I express my love and I do this by blurting out gibberish from my heart and singing, which causes it to rise further to the throat where I accept, and forgive, and just speak gibberish and sing and shout and just let it spill. After this, I sit down and meditate. Close my eyes. Look up at the top of my head and visualize. I think about divinity, I think about everything, I think about nothing, et cetera. I think about all of the chakras. I think about how we are just one rainbow of the spectrum, and the spectrum crossfades above into another rainbow, and below into another rainbow. We flow through this. I clap my hands, and think about the vortexes in my palms. When I play guitar, all the energy in the universe flows through me and clears the stale energy within. Like the fans start blowing. I do a lot of stretching, jumping around, gibberish, martial arts, mantras. The tricky thing are the bhanda locks. Learn those from someone who knows what they are doing. This, to me, is what Kundalini yoga's all about. It's fun! It's great for you! Glad you discovered it.
actualy it certainly can be dangerouse and definately can make u insane witnessed it myself and it can be very powerful im no expert at all, just remember what it was like trying to help a freind peicfe her mind back together after dabling in it without guidance it can be really life changing, thayts true, but imagine having a switch, that if you switch it 1 way your life suddenly becomes magical, but if u switch it the other way becomes a series of never ending tragedy do you just flip the switch and hope u guess right? or do you try to find someone whos flipped the switch before you and knows which way will do what if you want a teacher theres i think 1 somewhere in my myspace freinds, he popped up there just when my freinds mind was at its woirse from it be careful with kundilini...very strange things can happen
It's true if you try and control it the kundalini can get trapped and causes serious problems. I think this has to do with the dimethyltryptamine released by it. (which causes the godly divinity) That's why you should just let it flow. Schizophrenics have higher levels of dimethyltryptamine in the bodies than us normal humanoids. I really, personally, see a link between kundalini and DMT. Don't try the bhandas unless you learn from someone who's experienced! One of my clients has a guru from india who can transfer shakti-pat by touch. He says he's literally been blown away by it. People end up on the floor just HOWLING. Kundalini is insane. When I first started I was convinced I had to control it, Big mistake. I got so Ill.... Couldn't eat. It was bad. Yeah you probably should find a guru or teacher if you want to pursue this aspect of our divinity.
There are people who can achieve samadhi for days on end because of Kundalini. I am terribly fascinated... Bad things happen when Kundalini is block. Beware of the bhandas (locks)
exactly, its not something you can read a book then just try and master it without expecting it to kick your ass for trying..
amen to that, souring eagle. It's such a fascinating thing, though. I've only just begun to understand it.
try my method of kundalini yoga (if you want! ) It's a hell of a lot of fun and it gets kundalini flowing naturally without any of the bhanda lock risks. I practice this until I meet up with the guru again, or until I learn more. The gibberish is essential because it scrambles your unconsciousness. I'm only 20, I mean uh 84 I don't expect to understand this stuff for another four decades at least.
Nick, I'm an initiated Tantric master. The Kundalini is the divine Mother. In the descent of consciousnesss She is your ego, in ascent She takes you to Shiva. Unbeknownst to humans, the Kundalini totally governs all aspects of consciousness. If you want instruction about what KUndalini Devi ramifications represent, I'm here. I published a book called "Kundalini Dream" a True Adventure In Yoga Tantra. Talk to me. Namaste Yogin Bhairava Atmabhoda Sarasvati
I learned TM when I was fourteen. I had a very 'alive' TM teacher who awakened my kundalini. How do I know for sure? I saw Her. For about four years of meditation practice I had a headache - I mean a constant headache which never went away. And in the TM organization where I was I meditated in groups and during most sessions I felt like I was entirely on fire from head to foot. Being a teen and going through that made my life twice as difficult. Life is hard enough to deal with on even a material level. It all finally subsided I guess into clarity and simple inner silence. I guess what people would call bliss. Such bliss was my only goal in life. But since then it has been really hard to balance. Kundalini has not made my life any easier. But those who meditate and have no kundalini or moving bliss seem to just be body meditating. I don't know how fulfilling that can be! But it's not for me to say. Here's how it works. If you are attracted to kundalini and what it represents then it means you have the sense of the deity as feminine. Because kundalini is coiled like a circle or spiral or DNA. So you need to find a path of shakti. Unfortunately, from experience I can say most gurus now are complete fakes with a small and dangerous bit of knowledge. It will be best to trust then in the Mother of All, and ask Her for blessings. I can only really recommend a couple places where the gurus are not selfish and evil. Devi Mandir in CA, and Devi Puram in Vizag. I am sure there are other places but those are the two that come to mind as being very accessable. Good luck, and don't expect your life to become easier from the experience. However, if this is what you really wish for - that type of transcendence then you will surely have it. As for people getting shaktipat, good luck.

I did already think about this, it's funny you bring it up. every thought I have I can trace to a certain chakra. Consciousness itself, I can't even explain just thinking about animals makes me......................
Shiva is the source consciousness prabhu, and the Devi Kundalini and He are synonymous. The Devi Kundalini is the aspect of God by which Shiva moves away from Himself, but ultimately, they are totally one. The Siva Sutras as well as the Sahasrara realizations I have undergone as well as my Swami-ji Satyananda's teachings bring one to one conclusion. The Devi is Shiva in descent. Namaste, Love
Hi, No need to be afraid of Kundalini. She is the life energy force that runs this Universe and beyond. But people in their ignorance attribute nonsense to her. No one can force their Kundalini to rise. Certain Yogic exercise do open up Nadis but thats it. The physiological effects of that forced opening is misconstrued as Kundalini. A Guru is needed to guide you. A person walking on an unknown path sometimes feels an irrational fear. The Guru is needed to dispel it and point the direction ahead. Yes very few people on this Earth who can do real Shaktipat. One is in Melbourne. Check out www.ashram.com.au PEACE
i would recommend pranayama and pratyahara, for opening up your nadis and bringing yourself to reality.
I'm fairly young in the spirituality game, but I've literally been working with energy and the chakras all of my life. In that regard, despite my ignorance of the terms (though I do want to learn), I would say that I agree with a lot of people when they say that kundalini is a fairly universal energy and that it cannot be controlled; it can be guided. This is how my dear mother explained it to me: She said that whenever you see that special someone and you feel sudden warmth spread from your first or third (at least for me), that is your kundalini revving up. Now, as far as using meditation to try and, I can't stress this enough, GUIDE kundalini, there are ways in which you can place your attention on your third chakra and see what happens when you try to think of your connection to your sexuality. I don't mean to debase the spirituality of it, and as I've said, I'm still fairly young so this all could be complete horse rubbish, but this meditation method has worked for me for years. Humor me? What also helped was that my mom had been doing it for five years before I was born and then carried me while she was doing and has been guiding me in meditation since I was youngster. If you don't trust yourself to guide your kundalini, it may be advisable to see a guru because it can be pretty intense. I'm not sure about insanity, but the intensity can be...weird, is the word I would use to describe it.
Hey im positive i just underwent a kundalini awakening and i have questions about it. who can i ask or go see?
