Hipforums, come on! Autechre is like, the epitome of all that is psychedelic and original.

Aphex Twin is alright, I had my phase with him -- but most of his stuff is simply annoying and showy. Choppy breaks just for the sake of being choppy, just a drill and bass fanservice, most of the same breaks chopped over and over again. And half of his shit isn't even serious. I don't know, just not my cup of tea.

Autechre however can capture some of the most intricate workings of the universe in sound. They are constantly bending sound and messing around, doing whatever the fuck they feel like to come up with interesting soundscapes. They use lots of found sounds and interesting techniques. For example, modifying synthesizers and drum machines to create generated sequences.

Excellent songs everyone must hear in high quality surround sound:

    Second Scepe:
This is an older song of theirs, '94 I think. It's long and progressive, but once all the melodies and sounds are in play it's... astounding. http://youtube.com/watch?v=jyuFlPKBCao

    Corc:
One of the most chill songs ever. Has a narcotic buzz to it.

    Bine:
One of their darkest tracks to date. Pure grime.

    IO:
From their latest CD, Quaristice. I love this one.

    A small clip from "Simmm":
Simmm is another track from Quaristice.

All of my favorite, more abstract songs from them aren't on Youtube (parhelic triangle is a MUST LISTEN, as is Tapr and ALL of Tri Repetae++)

I was shocked and appaled to see only 3 posts come up when I searched Autechre. LEt's spread Autechre awareness at Hipforums.
