I want to supplement some (not quite optimal levels, but more than nothing....something in between nothing and prime amouts) CO2. I've heard mention of milk jug pumps with yeast and aquarium pumps. I can buy a $7 air pump and cut out holes for tubing in the milk jug, I'm pretty do-it-yourself and handy when it comes to projects like this, but I was wondering if someone could lay it out in steps and tell me exactly what to do. I don't want to take chances with my plants. Also, if you could give me an idea of the amount/time of CO2 I should pump in. I appreciate the help fellas.
Suppose ya could get a jug with a lid cut 2 holes 1 for the line in which needs t go the bottom and the other the line out which just need t b in the top. The idea is that the air bubbles through the mix of sugar yeast n water and then out through the other line picking up the co2 as it goes. Remember t get a 1 way valve 4 the air pump. Plants only take up co2 when lights are on.
Thanks, sounds good. But what kind of mixture do I put in there? Yeast, I know, and I'm guessing water as some type of reactent, and...suger? Lemme know. 'preciate it alot.
all ya use is yeast sugar and water. The water picks up air n suspends the mix whiles the sugar is the food 4 the yeast. I would also use something a bit wider then air line 4 the line out though maybe garden hose.
I saw a grower use that once he ran the air line up to the top of a bamboo support. Heavier than air co2 sinks. He claimed it works. I think he dripped vinegar onto baking soda (when the lights were on only).
Bingo 4got t mention that bb co2 heavier then air, thx. When needing fast growth or growin seeds just put a glass filled with the mix in with them. Seems t work really does.
This is really interesting and I am wondering if anyone has directly used this method and what the outcome was.
