Ok, so I know this guy thats been using heroin IV for about a year now. 5-10 bags a day ..atleast 2 bags to get well. He's planning to kick it cold turkey. He took a week off of work and has the place to do it comfortably, and with someone there to take care of him. Is there any advice out there for him? Anything that helps with severe withdrawal? I've seen him sick before, and its not pretty. He cries, bites sheets and pillows to shreads, moans and groans, sweats, pukes ..the whole deal. That was only day 1 !! How long can he expect to be like that? When does it subside? Is there anything he could take or do to help him thru this?? Without taking other drugs and alcohol? Any suggestions/tips would be greatly appreciated. I want to help in any way I can to ensure his best chance to go thru with the whole ordeal!!
dude its gonna be hard cold turkey..I've done it 20 times now. Nothing really helps. Get some suboxone. You live in philly..im from balimore..I know you shouldnt have any problem findin them. Other than that I drank a bunch or liquor, ate klonopins and i take seroquel...nothin really helps though except the bupe's..take care. peaz -J
I would get some suboxone or have him dose down gratually over time. I think he won't be able to do the cold turkey thing if he's been doing that much heroin for that long. I wish him the best of luck.
cant quitting heroine abruptly be fatal? maybe not after only a year, i dont have any real experience with the drug or anything just seems ive heard that from different sources.
have him take some ibogaine.. heh but I would recommend just cutting doses in half each for awhile or something, that would probably be a little easier. But hey if he's got the will power encourage him to go cold turkey, get it over with faster
it's not possible to find ibogaine from dealers and whatnot. I think you have to go to a clinic out of the US to get the treatment. Overall it takes about a week but is suppose to work wonders, its very expensive too. And the only substances the withdrawals can kill you is benzos and alcohol.
Sounds like your "friend's" best choice is to go the Suboxone route. But make sure he doesnt take more then 8mgs a day, anymore then that is overkill and well actually make u feel shitter, less is MORE with BUPE, yes i know its a weird ass drug....but it works wonders if u know how to use it properly, sadly most of the dr's prescribing bupenorphine way OVER prescribe it.... just use the lowest dose possible and u gotta get down to literally doing like 0.3 - 0.5mgs once every other 3 days and then u can jump easiest.... i have lots of info on detoxing THE RIGHT WAY with subs and also with every other abused pill, benzos, opiates, are my expertise areas tho ; }
