Oh well, I'll post it here... I have always been entranced with Africa. Who has gone? I want to go, and plan on going when I turn 18. What are the best things to do/see to get the best experince? Where is the best place to stay? Also, anyone have any pictures? Thanks

Africa is a big place!!! Which part are you talking about? I've been to Africa, to North Africa. Morocco to be exact. It was an amazing, magical, beautiful place and I'd recommend it to anyone! However, I would recommend traveling with a "native" Moroccan because its alot easier! hahaha! Stuff is cheaper and people don't take advantage of you as a tourist. There is a hipforums member that I'm sure would love to show you around.....he lives there. He's got TONS of photos in his photo gallery. Just look at the Morocco section, and you'll see. Really cool place. The people I met were all very nice, the food was totally yummy. It was a bit weird to see like, headless goats hanging in the market place, but, you get used to that fairly quickly. Its all worth it when you have a tagine, which is this super yummy Moroccan stew, made in this funny cylindrical pot. I didn't get to see as much of the country as I liked, but, the parts I did see and experience were cool.

    Thank you friend :)
I did check out his gallery..it was quite amazing.
I think Morocco sounds wonderful, from what I've heard, anyways. What I'm wondering though, is Morocco more of a tourist, done up town or is it the heart of Africa, very original?
Where did you stay? Honestly, I do not want to stay in a hotel like I would if Flordia, I really want to soak in the experince.
I would also love to travel through Africa, and not stay in one place. But...that's kind of my problem, I don't know WHERE to go, I need some recommendations and guidance. I would love to get the real feel of it, meet African tribes and communicate and mingle with the natives.

    :)

It depends on where you go. The first city we went to was El Jadida, absolutely NOT a tourist town! Very residential. I don't think that I saw any other white people there, besides myself. We stayed at a friend's apartment. A few days later, we went to Essaouira, which is sort of touristy. Just a little, though. We rented an apartment with a terrace that over looked the ocean. It was breath-taking. (And really cheap! Like, 11 bucks a night!) Then, we went to Marrakech which is probably more touristy than Essaouira. There, we rented a riyadh, which is like....hard to explain. Its an apartment of sorts. It was beautiful.

Most of Morocco is rural and poor. But, beautiful. I don't think that you would get a touristy kind of vibe there. Its not like Sub-Saharan Africa. Its an Arab country, not like, tribal as you might imagine Sub-Saharan. There are big cities. Casablanca looked just like Chicago.

I hope to see more of Africa...and of course more of Morocco. But, I really just want to see the entire world!
