Leave a note on his door, even though you know that he is home, and that you require at least a two month's notice for a rent increase. Tell him that you intend on paying the same amount for this coming month.

Do you have a lease term?

he gave the legally required month's notice. i can move anytime i want with 30 days notice, but there really isn't anything cheaper available around here.

Do you live in an area with a college and/or university?

Because the school year's end is rapidly approaching and you can probably look into finding a cheap sublet from someone who wants to go home for the end of the term and needs to move out and find someone to take their apartment fast, usually for a cheaper price.

have you considered becoming a stripper? It doesn't just lead to prostitution anymore. They're now giving out oscars as well.

Sorry to hear about you're situation. Can't you buy a house, fixed rate mortgage?

You can't buy a house without a downpayment and a full time job. And if she had that kind of money, she'd be able to pay rent...and eat, too...

    Sorry about your situation Freaks...

The city keeps raising our property taxes...they apparently don't want average people to be able to afford to live here. It's gone up by over $2,000 since we bought this place.

yeah, i remember that happened to my mom when she was a widow on a fixed income. she was forced to rent out her place and live in a funky old apartment fashioned out of her garage because she couldn't afford to pay the property taxes on her place even though her mortgage was paid off. owning your own house isn't necessarily any protection from a bad economy, as lots of people around here are finding. repossessions everywhere.

I am so glad that my rent is only about $60 a month for a dorm room and if/when I get an efficiency apartment upstairs then rent will be about $160 a month and that includes utilities.
Maybe you should come work at the Grand Canyon with me.

    stop paying for the internet
    hunt for more jobs
sell shit you dont need to survive
even casual shit liek dog walking, and temp agencies can help a little til you find something more reliable
use less of whatever utilities you pay on - turn off all lights when you don't need htem, use candles when you can, don't leave the computer running, flush less often (if its yellow let it mellow), etc, for whatever things you do pay for

It's a good thing you put a thumbs down there, otherwise I wouldn't have known whether to comfort or congratulate you.

Also, whomever suggested moving into your parents' place is wrong. Always the worst possible idea.
