    Hello,

I had my hair growing for almost two years, never combing them once. I started getting two or three nice locks, but later one in the back started as a knot and just kept sucking in more hair.

With plans of going natural I didn't want to risk my head ending up with 6 thick flat dreads as happened to a friend of mine... I got serious and ordered a dread kit from Dreadhead. 6 hours later I had nice thick things that looked like dreads..

Some held but most just started dreading where rubberbands were, at the ends and at the beginnings

I took 6 days before washing them for the first time and had them waxed and then waxed every other time I washed them so every 2 or one week (didn't happen too much since I only have them in since Feb 7th. Mom twisted them when waxing causing them to start getting loops, she also tried to frizz them by rubbing them up and down....

I then found this site and read that wax is bad, and agreed it didn't speed dreading at all as promised since hair is stuck in one position with very little movement. I had some specks of wax but gladly not as some experienced with prolonged use of wax.

    Here are some pictures:

    Here's two problems I have,

one is all the loops and hair tightenining up longer hair causing a loop as so, this started happening after my Mom was twisting the hair... =(

    Another problem:
Two dreads combine into one by the roots... I decided to cut them, some were successful but one wasn't...

get rid of the rubberbands immediately
dont cut the dreads apart, pull them apart, ripping the hairs connecting them..if theyre too well connected then its too late and they'll be 1 dread
make sure u got every bit of wax out
the loops are a good thing..love em and leave em

    Hey,

Thanks for the quick response, I have read alot of your replies and posts and they're all great.

Rubber bands are out. Next is the deep cleaning tree oil/basking soda/salt/lime juice mixture. =)

Is it better if I palm roll or don't worry about that until the dreads are more settled?

You can palmroll the locks or crochet a little if you don't want loops.

Hey, thanks for the advice, I just searched on YouTube how it's done and I'll have someone play with the hooked needle and try to get something out of it lol. We'll see.

I had loops until about 10 months so...they're a part of dreading.

Loops make my hair more confusing to look at lol. Dreads appear less defined with loops, I think it's too early to say yet, maybe they'll eventually dissapear after hair starts "growing" over them.

Loops are part of the dreading, I had tons of loops the first 6 months or so, then they started to dread or shrink away.

Dreading takes time, time, time

    Peace
