I would recommend saving your money and going to a couple smaller festivals instead of Bonnaroo.... like Smilefest or Harvestfest or Suwanne Bound in FL.... Bonnaroo just seems to get less and less cool every year... I could hardly stand to be there this year, and I don't think I'll go next year. Smaller gatherings are cheaper, but they have the same people performing. It's less crowded with less crazies and it's not as overwhelming. Go to Jambase.com and find all the cool festivals coming up. There are tons!

This year was my first Bonnaroo, and since I have nothing to compare it to, I thought it was awesome... I'm definitely going next year if they have one.

Tye_Dye- I'm from Chicago and will be planning a road trip if Bonnaroo happens next year... You are welcome to join us :)

I live in south eastern Wisconsin. Can't drive but of course would help with gas and food money. When the time comes around I'm game.

I agree w/ Haha. You can get a lot more for your money by hitting the smaller fests. I love the music at Bonnaroo, but it's gotten a little too commercialized for my taste.

there may be a benefit to a bigger fest like bonnaroo. for me, it's got a greater musical diversity. i don't get into the jam bands or bluegrass so much, and i enjoy the other acts. good examples from this year's fest are primus and cut chemist. i checked smilefest and harvestfest, and neither seemed to have such a wide offering of styles.
also, bonnaroo is just a 2hr drive from where i live. there's a plus in itself.

Well, I love Bonnaroo. I don't care that it's getting more and more commercialized! Maybe the more people who see us having fun the more people will join! Anyway it is kind of early but I know I'm going. Save your cash cuz tickets will be expensive! I'm driving down from around Buffalo, NY so get in touch with me, keep in touch and hopefully we'll work something cool out.

I've been to the last 2 Bonarroos and if I like the set list I'll go again. I've never been much for large crowds but, somehow I feel at home there.
