can you start with a hoop/ring or do ya have to have the stud type thingie 1st? i really want a silver (or at least silver coloured) hoop in my lip, but have zero knowledge of piercings. i have only ever had my nose done and that was done with a gun eeeek.
I started off with studs, but that's what I wanted so I never asked otherwise. I think they like to start off with studs, but I'm not sure either. BMEzine.com has a lot of information about pierings, so you might want to check that site out.
i had mine pierced with a ring. your piercer will use whichever you like. it is a bit easier to heal with a stud i believe because it doesnt move around as much, but mine was fine. what they usually use is a captive bead ring which will be a silver coloured (implant grade surgical steel) hoop holding a bead (you should be able to choose the colour).
sorry off topic--i don't get how that can even happen, doesn't part of the gun hold the earring back? how does that fit up your nose?
