im planning a trip in late november to amsterdam im from florida and i know i need to get a passport and all but they dont check that until i get on the plane right?? Also, ive booked my hotel at the radisson, will they have buses running from the airport to my hotel? And do buses run from the town centre to most hotels all the time or what? im just worried about finding my way around!!!! -beeez
They'll check your passport when you check in at the flight desk, before you get on the plane. At Schipol airport trains run every 20 mins or so straight into the heart of Amsterdam, the stop is called Central Staion, the journey takes about 15 minutes and they will announce when you get to Central station, if in doubt ask, they speak English better than you do. Amsterdam is small compared to many European capitals, it feels more like a large town than a large city. go to www.radisson.com go to the hotel where you are staying in Amsterdam, you will see its actually very close to Central Station, get a taxi if you want but it will only be a 10-15 minute walk, there is a map on the Radisson website. Don't worry! you won't get lost! Have fun. You will ;-)
Blimey, your taking a risk booking a holiday without getting your passport first. Good luck, hope you get it on time.
but dont you have to already buy tickets, because it says you have to have proof of departure in order to get a passport, right?
u cant enjoy amsterdam by staying at the radisson (or the hilton or the ritz) find a cheap hotel or hostel right in the heart of the city where u can be IN the action, hear the bike bells, smell the odor of the city. It's not Las Vegas, you know.
No you dont have to have proof of departure to get a passport. You better get going on that passport if you havent allready cause it does take some time to get it. There are companies that you can pay extra to that will get your passport in as little as 2 days. You will have to show the passport when you get to the airport and check in, and then you will have to show your passport again when going through immigration in schipol. Then you will get your bags, and go through customs (which is usually a joke, I have been to europe atleast 20 times and gone through customs in different countires probably 50 times and never been stopped at customs either way.) Dont be worried about finding you way around or anything, me and a friend went last year without knowing a damn thing and were fine. Everyone speaks english, and it was a breeze to find the train from schipol to the center train station. Have fun in Amsterdam its a blast! I will be there from November 24-29.
