Hello everyone ! My best plant is now 5-6 feet tall, the first 3 feet have formed buds and more than 75% brown pistils. These don't look like their'e gonna grow more. There's no significant frost, but hey, this plant came from seeds on a bag which gave me a good one. So, should i cut all the plant and hang it up ? ore should i wait till the upper half finishes and flowers all its way? on the middle thirth of the plant there are some still growing white looking flowers (white or clear pistils) they look young. But i've heard it's better to hang the whole plant to help it vure better. What should i do? Harvest now. Harvest in two or even three parts? That's: Bud by bud... only the ripe ones? Or .....wait..... and let the ripe buds there till the whole plant is ready? Another thing: What could i do tho get rid of those ugly lookig white insects. Theyre like butter colored .5 milimiters bugs. One of my plants is kindof infested. Cheers !
You might want to wait a week or so to see if it puts out more white hairs. I have a strain that looks ready judging the hair a month before it actualle gets ready. After a week or two it starts putting out more white hairs. This is also when it begins to get crystals building up. And actually becomes quite frosty before it is done. That is a good reason to snip a couple buds to see how they are turning out.
Dude, I think you have spider-mites. Which, like, basically means you should trash your crop. But don't take my word as gold; I'm just an idiot. Bring it up with an experienced grower.
Sound more like aphids. Is there a lot of white spots on the leaves. That close to harvest, i wouldnt use anything on em.At most maybe spray some ivory soap and water. the soap coats the leaves and suffocates the mites breaking the breeding cycle. Use every three days, spray it down first thing in the morning. Spray the undersides well that is where mites lay their eggs. About a 1/2 teaspoon of ivory liquid per gallon should work. Make sure it is ivory ,it has no phosphates that can kill your plant. Most other soap has phosphates. But If your a week or two from harvest the mites can't do much now.I wouldnt trip too hard about it.
when a plant is ready the crystels kinda, sorta pop and they start to turn a light tan, a jewlers eye is great for checking them, as far as the bugs go, its too late to worry about them now, you dont want to risk contaminating your buds
Know my buds. Remember they come from a pot bag from a friend. These are not gen-mod monsters. I may try that sometime. http://hipforums.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=8710&stc=1 http://hipforums.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=8709&stc=1 http://hipforums.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=8708&stc=1 The top of the plant liiks as if was still VEG. No flowers and maybe still growing a bit. The midde of the plant has white coloured hairs packed in 1 inch minibuds. The bottom buds, which are the brown ones are the size of a finger, like 2-3 inches long and 3/4 inch thick. Not award winning buds but hey. For what i've read from you, it's not wise to harvest bud by bud, right? Whatr would happen if i did this. Cut the ripe branches with the good and ready looking buds and leave the rest untouched. ¿?¿? Love to all ! Cervixgirl
Ok what you have is the end of your first phase of flowering. Mine are doing that too all the hairs turn red. then after a couple weeks they start popping up everywhere again. This is when your plant will put on the bulk. Do not harvest yet. Where are you egypt? Or new zealand? and you got bagseed from a local strain? Chances are it is a sativa strain that may take 12- 14 weeks to get to the finish. From what i just saw you got another 4-6 weeks to go at least. Those buds will get really fat and look much more mature when they are ready. Like you said the top looks veg still, because it is just getting to the end of the first flowering spurt still. She will fill out, you may need to give her a shot of some bloom formula she should get it in second gear. Usually a plant will have three spurts during the flowering phase. But as with most MJ info this phenomenon can be strain specific. I have one strain that you can hardly notice the reddining during the phases, but it is obvious by the growth patterns more. Be patient. wait until around mid nov. and you'll have some good smoke around for the holidays.
