I love death metal and grindcore music. But I've always been afraid to trip while listening to them. I've heard any music is good while tripping, but is it the same with this style of music. pink floyd and live phish has always been my favorite, but what do you guys think of tripping while listening to death metal?
To me, whatever music you think is good is good for tripping. Actual trippy/calm music is good too though for sure.
Its not art dude, its just a sound. If you hear any drop D chord progression your go "oh that sounds like [enter metal band]" If you listen to death metal on delics you have a good chance of realizing how shitty it is and deciding to stop listening to it.
isn't that was music is...just sound? and a lot of death metal, goes lower than drop d. but there is a difference between bands and you can recognize them. but we all have different preferences.
Sounds organized in a certain way forms art. Famous paintings arent just color, its something that provokes thoughts, feelings and questions. Ive yet to hear any heavy metal listener gain anything from listening to a metal song.
have you ever been to a concert? it is organized, it may sound like noise, but you haven't actually listen to it. heres a band called job for a cowboy. their an excellent band, just listen to the guitar. its amazing. not many people can play sweep picking solo's (they don't in this song, but many death metal bands do) at time signatures of 16/32 or 8/16. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IeZIfbPKzGE
I actually really appreciate the poetry in most Opeth songs. Don't be so closed minded Vance, actually try to appreciate it. If you decide you still don't like it, there is absolutely no reason to bash it like you are. I don't like to listen to Hip-Hop or anything of that nature but I realize WHY others do and accept that.
^^ opeth is a great example of melodic death metal. they are an amazing band. i love the grand conjuration.
i dont know about death metal.... however, I do enjoy tripping to melodic metal very much, like trivium and all that remains. it's absolutely amazing, it takes you on some adventures that you wont forget for a long long time. just crank it up sit back and close your eyes.
Children of bodom is sick They are melodic death metal, the best death metal band in the worth IMO good songs; downfall are you dead yet bed of razors towards dead end bodom beach terror black widow silent night bodom night bodom after midnight etc they kick ass, listen to those songs before you judge
I should be traversing my inner universe within the next 30 minutes so I'm going to pop in some Dragonforce I'll let you guys know how crazy it is lol.
I think saying x music isn't art is like all the blind individuals saying marijuana is deadly. For fuck's sake, to each his own.
Not a huge death metal fan. Like a few bands. But a few of my fellow acid dropping friends are hugely into death metal. One told me the first time he tripped he listened to death metal and said it was heaven to him. So it works for some people. and not for some. I know someone who had a horrible trip just because people were blasting death metal at a party.
I really enjoy metal as well, not as much as I did a few years ago but I still like it a lot. I can definitely say that classical metal especially Metallica had a huge part of me growing up. As far as metal and tripping goes, for me it's hit or miss, most times I like really chilled music or just chilled out instrumentals however I occasionally have a trip that I really love to go out of my mind listening to Marilyn and other shock rock and metal...
trivium? all that remains? I don't really consider them metal enough when it comes to real metal. they are talented, but they, i guess, are like emo metal. not my style of metal. I'm talking about bands like deicide, digested flesh, cannibal corpse, chainsaw abortion, job for a cowboy, ect....
