I planted a germinated seed two days ago and already the seedling is growing fast and has come through the soil, standing at around an inch tall. I have exposed it to 4 hours a day in direct sunlight, 14 hours a day under a fluro light and 6 hours a day in complete darkness. Is this a good light cycle for a plant at this stage of its life?? I hear that it is bad to put seedlings in direct sun, is this true??? When will my seedling be mature and robust enough to cope with sustained periods of direct sun??? Is it ok to put it in the sun for just short periods to give it a boost??? By the way, is my seedling in good health at the moment?? How much should i water it??? Thanks, Al.

how much light you have on that? (wattage wise that is)

direct sunlight is a good thing for pot plants, the more light the better. give it at least 18 hrs of light per day (like you are doing) until you start to flower. then bring it down to 12 hrs to get some flowers going.

it looks healthy right now, but i suspect it won't live long unless you do a few things. first, get it into a pot that isn't clear. sunlight on the roots will seriously hurt the plant. second, get some perlite in the soil. the roots need room to breath. third, i suspect you're going to need more light than you're offering. for a single plant, you'll need at least 100 watts, ideally 200 or more. also, don't water it too much. only when the soil is totally dry. cannabis doesn't need much water to grow happily.

where are you growing this? apartment? at home with your parents (i hope not)? who ever lives with you will know all about it if it gets big enough because it will stink something big. just to let you know.

    best of luck to you
