March 27 will be our 8th anniversary-ish date. I wanted to do something I know he'll love, so I've decided to try to recreate his favorite clothing, if I can find someone who can/will do it.

These pants/shorts are what I want.

He got these I think at the Furthur show in atlanta in 98, and even though we've seen many imitations and similar styles, we've not been able to find anything quite like it....or at least none as high quality or with these really nice colors. The original pockets were much bigger, but he wore these nearly daily for a couple of years, and much of the original material was shredded. I tried to fix them myself a bit, by buying a similar pair of pants and using those pockets, and the side panel material (if you look close, you can still see a small section of the original corduroy in the middle of the side panel) and using them to patch up the holes in the knee area...but I'm not a miracle worker.

Anyway, I'd like to get something as close as possible to the original. If Anyone on this forum thinks they'd be willing and able to recreate these for me, please hit me back with a general estimate on the cost, and I'll send you whatever other information you need....detailed photos, colors, measurements, yada yada, you know how it goes.

    Thanks in advance!!!!

    Eep!

Well I hope someone on here can help you out! I don't want to put anyone on the spot, but I know I've seen some of the members on here post some nice patchwork shorts and I'm sure one of them could do a great job replicating those. If no one replies, maybe do a board search for patchwork shorts (and other variations), see who makes them, and then perhaps contact them directly from there.

yeah, I'm really surprised nobody has offered it up yet. I know there's alot of really awesome talent here....maybe they're all busy, or else my money is too dirty for them. [IMG]

LOL, that really blows, because that's 2 items it looks like I won't be getting anytime soon. I was also wanting to replace his "be good family" shirt....I found the folks who make them online, they have a website up and everything....but wouldn't you know it, I write to them and get no response. I have not seen that particular shirt in years, and I thought I was finally about to get my hands on it....no such luck.

haha, it really doesn't pay to be all nostalgiac right now I guess....

Wow. I just had to reply here - we've been PMing. Those shorts were made by my beloved husband 10 years ago!

Almost every year we bump into someone at a show or fest who's wearing an old well loved pair of his/our shorts, but never anything like this before! Wow. I mean, wow. :) Blast from the past! I guess this is justification of our motto "clothes to live in". We just make stuff we like, the same stuff we live in, so we know it's comfy and functional and cool.

Oh my god what a small world! That is so cool! And in my previous reply hummblebee was the main person I was thinking of that I thought would be able to best re-create them. Haha! :D
