1. The Hipforums announces it first ever fundraiser. After nearly 30 years online, we must ask our members and guests to help support the website. Thanks to years of ongoing financial support of our members, advertisers and volunteer admin staff, we have been able to keep the forums alive.

Now we must ask for help as available funds have all been used for our Internet server and other fees.

So please donate any amount to our PayPal account donate@Hipforum.com to keep the site going. If we can get enough for a few months fees, we won't need to nag you again!

I think that all filings finish by falling off. I gotta say that I'm mighty lucky - 38 years old and I never lost one filling. I do know that it's gonna happen one day.
Does it hurt? See your dentist asap!

Yes. It happens all the time, I'm told. How long ago did you get the filling?

Oh, and in the meantime, do you have any oral anesthetic? You're going to want some. And some heavy duty over the counter pain-killers.

That happened to me twice. Amazingly...the metal fillings I've had since I was a kid haven't fallen out. But the 2 white ones (I don't know what they're made of, but they're made to not show) fell out within a year of getting them. It sucks.

The newer ones don't seem to last as long. I don't know why. Anyway, it seems that fillings sometimes expand and contract a bit and that creates an opportunity for more decay to start up in there. My dentist says it's pretty standard practice to have to replace fillings once in a while.
