How's it goin guys, I just wanted to ask a few questions about life in the twin cities, I just got accepted to a music school in st. paul and i'm gonna be moving up there around august. I was basically just wondering what kind of opportunities there are to go to concerts, gatherings and the like. Also I've heard there isnt much acid there (funny because I live in kansas now and I recently discovered i JUST BARELY missed the best time to be a kansas resident ever haha), but what is the scene like for shrooms there? I'm strongly considering just growing my own, but I don't know any dependable sites or anything to get started. Any info is greatly appreciated! Thanks
Oh hey there! I'm Laura. I live in Minnesota... about an hour south of St. Paul. Well for festivals I dont really know much. I do know there is the 10,000 lakes festival. I plan on going to that this year. For concerts there are many venues around so theres quite a bit of opportunity. Haha for acid man, I just did some acid last weekend, so its not impossible to find around here. Shrooms are easy to find, I know that. Well I hope my input helps you some, but im sure theres much that im not aware of either. Well good luck up here, Im sure you will have a wonderful experience
MN is pretty cool. You going to McNally Smith? I roomed with a couple people from there. Met some cool people, but 95% of the people there have a bit of a god complex, so watch out. What do you play? There are concerts a'plenty, but it depends on what you're into. I have a good friend from KC, MO that moved up here to go to McNally, but he didn't like it and dropped out. Funny thing is that he's been more successful in music than most of his classmates.
Welcome to this wonderful state! (whoops,i meant shitty) LOL But it might be better than Kansas,i guess i dont know. So that is kick ass that you moved up here for a music school, what is it exactly that you'll be studying, audio production, musical instrument, record label, etc? I've been wanting to go to music school too but havent quite picked the right option,i also have no money LOL What kind of music do you like? I go to concerts all the time,so i'll tell you a few of the places i like. The Myth in Maplewood is cool, its not huge or tiny, just perfect size, and it has a free parking lot. Station 4 in St.Paul is awesome too,its tiny but the cool thing is you can always meet bands there, and there is a free parking ramp on the same block. There are tons of venues around here, and i've never even been to them all. Sorry i cant help ya on the acid/shrooms thing,i only do 420!
There is music GALORE in minnesota.. minnesota has one of the best music scenes if i do say so myself.. for festivals there are a ton.. 10,000 lakes like Laura mentioned.. also there is Harvest Fest which is put on by WookieFoot.. LogJam which is a bluegrass festival.. Boats and Bluegrass festival.. Green Man Festival.. Snowball.. Bella Sol... Project Earth.. Ren fest.. Minnesota Zoo always has tons of great music throughout the year.. the State Fair has good music too.. Plus there are so many music venues in the st.paul/minneapolis area.. there is bound to be a something to see almost every day of the week
I have lived here my whole life and i've never heard of some of those LOL Must be music i don't like. There's also Warped Tour which comes here every summer, and we're somewhat close enough to Somerset,WI and Cadot WI which both have festivals, and Walker,MN has Moondance Jam. But really, how does MN compare to California or New York or Florida? Those are the states that,IMO,have WAY more going on musically. Especially Florida right now, every other band that comes out is from there. Chicago too. But,i forgot, this thread is about MN lol Yeah i guess we have "enough"...i just go through bad dry spells sometimes where NOBODY i like comes here,i went 6 months this year where there were no shows for me. Bands would literally skip over MN when touring. I was convinced they hated us LOL
seriously.. minnesota is where the music is at.. sure they all have their scenes too and what not.. but the midwest i believe has been producing some great fuckin music
What bands have came out of MN in the last few years that are famous now? I can only think of one; Motion City Soundtrack...and i don't even like them that much!
Trampled by Turtles are one of the premier Bluegrass bands in the US right now... @OP.. you're taste in music is obviously a bit different than yours.. i'm not into pop genres.. I'm not complainin either than no huge pop bands have come out of Minnesota in a long time either.. helps keep the state from gettin tainted with shit music..
Well,if you consider pop shit, yeah LOL I don't even consider the bands i like pop. Most of them are hardcore rock or emo. But then you have a lot of people saying "They're not emo!" but whatever, they certainly aren't pop...to me pop is Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys and i don't listen to that stuff.
Dead fan? Once your 21 check out the Caboose when the Big Wu are playing. Usually pretty Hip. Lots of Dead Heads go.
