I do it for two reasons.......... I truly love how it feels and my tattoos make me feel like I'm more 'me'. They are my way of carrying my life on my skin. What makes you want to get tattoo'd?
i mostly like them because you get to express yourself in what's on your body and people get to see who you are by just looking at your tattoos
They tell my story. Each piece of art represents a pivotal moment in my life and serves as as inspiration and reminder to me.
Each piece of art is what I'm inspired by and what I really am. I got the Noble eightfold path lotus symbol on the right side of my calf and I'm getting aries horns on my wrist.
Mine is personal expression. It has to be something I am willing to live with, forever. And they also have a personal meaning to me, one is kind of a totem or protector for my father, one is my favorite fantasy creature, and the other is a kind of tribal version of personality.
exactly!! i feel that all my tattoos represent a point in my life... good or bad they are with me forever. just like my tattoos.
I love getting tattooed because pretty much what everyone has said.. it represents a time in my life, and they have personal meaning.. one I have is a lotus with the symbol for OM.. it brings me peace.. and the other is a negitive space tattoo I got for my boyfriend Mike.. its hard to explain but his name is in it.. I'm planning many many more..
I have 6 and have finished my designs for the next 2. I like them. The first 2 was a self awareness thing. After my divorce, they were a break free thing and now the next couple of tattoo's will be an independance thing. Tattoo's mean different things at different times. They signify my life at that point in time.
i really dont get them for any specific reason. i just do it spur of the moment. ive got a lego block tattooed on myself, and an orange thing with one eye, wings, and an antennae. they really dont make sense, but they kinda look cool and i guess they represent stages in my life and the things i love (in a weird way). but who cares, you only live once!
i like how they look, what they represent, and at first i hated the feeling, but it's true, tattoos are addicting!

We all seem to be in accord here. It is a way of expressing your personal image, connecting with others, wearing your personal art and it may very well be addicting. I got this one yesterday and today it is itching like hell. http://www.hipforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4267133&postcount=788 I am so alergic to so many things it could have been the bandage put on it. The itch is outside the circle. But, I just decided to go in and have it done yesterday while I was down on SoBe. My first tat was a commemorative butterfly for my late wife who was into them. Then I designed my own Scorpion. Then got the Peace Symbol which represents a significant part of my life. Add to that the white beard and I guess people pretty much know where I have been.
I get mine for many reasons.....I ABSOLUTELY love the feeling, personal expression, love the general art of it, the list can go on and on...I also like the fact that I can put something on my body that expresses me that nobody else will have.
i love getting ink. it's like sex... addicting, gives me a high, represents who i am... just more expensive lol!! with the exception of one, i have drawn/designed each of my tattoos myself, and it's a real symbolism thing for me, to have ink that represents each part of my life, each milestone or major event for me... the placement, the design, the colors... it's all me, it's all a reminder, it's all an expression of my inner self. in a really cool way that looks badass and sexy and all of that!
