where the hell did you get the idea that im racist?! the civil war wasnt over slavery thats not what true confederates are about, not white supremacy but the protection of their history, i just have an interest in my heritage and own a fucking huge pile of guns.

 

He's right, the Civil War was about the state's right to secede from the union. Of course they make it out to look like the north was all great and stuff, but then again the north did win, and they're the ones writing the history... just a random thought.

omg i can't stop laughin... i live in lubbock texas.. small bible belt town, the first time i've lived in "the south" and the place is chock-full of rednecks and cowboys (haha... i said chock-full) i have met so many confederates... wow... and yeah, i was raised that flying that flag represents racism and the desire to still secede from the nation... anti-yankees and all that... lol, oh and practically everyone here is a baptist, republican, bush supporter.. and my ex's roommate is a huge fan of racing and knows the frekin KKK song and shit.. he sings it when he's drunk the bastard... pisses all the girls off... and ohyeah, i have acquired a southern accent... uggh...

I really don't pay attention to all that confederate stuff. But if I see a girl wearing a confederate symbol it's kind of my clue to "stay away" because chances are he will not approve of me. But yea all that confederate flag talk became a very BIG issue in South Carolina, if you haven't heard. It almost split the state in half, white and black, about 4 years ago. But I do have friends that wear it so it's still cool and all. That's my city on confederate rally day or whatever it's called. I work in the building in the background. My mom is a big supporter of NAACP so I heard my share of everything. But yea, I don't necessarily believe it's a racist flag, but many, like my mother, who grew up seeing that flag associated with lynches and burnings do.

well, I have a thing against extinct regimes, plus I'm kind of prejudiced against the south....I'm not a fan of Christians or racists....I do like Appalaichia though.

 

yeah the ku klux klan screwed it up for everyone, those fuckin basterds, and another thing is that they are associated with the rectangular battle flag, while actualy the battleflags were square and were only meant as a way to tell which way your supposed to move durring battle, the rectangular one was the naval flag, i really dont give a rat's ass if they take the "rebel" flag off of state buildings and such, people are too hepped up, i personaly prefer the bonny blue flag, the first flag used my the confederates. and the reason i got so many guns is cause im a reenactor.

 

the majority of the south was podunk poor farmers, very small amounts owned slaves, my ancestor owned 6 of them but i didnt find that out until long after i gained an interest.

 

yea, i know, I've read the Redneck Manifesto by Jim Goad.....the civil war is over, now the south just tortures us with NASCAR, bad country pop, and Fundamentalist Christiaity.

yea he's right...it isn't THAT bad. I love my city...just not too trusting of the rural towns around it.

 

Some of my good friends are "rednecks" (am i allowed to say that, cuz if not, I'll edit it out). Best people to go hang with when you run out of things to do. Going mudding and messing with guns and stuff. Fun times fo sho!

 

oh yeah, in case no one knows, the normal confederate flag you see everywhere is just the battle flag...
the actual flag of the confederecy that really holds some sort of bad meanings is the alabama state flag.
