GET YO GRADES UP! No respectable university is taking someone below a 2.5 unless you have very good SAT / ACT scores. Come on now it's not that hard to pull a 3.0.
for me, there's the little problem of finance. my school is free because of the scholarships i got (band, ACT, and employee dependent), which is why i'm there and will be there until fall 2009. then its off to university of tennessee, knoxville!!!! YAY!!!!!!!
most of the answers i have read here are pure old fashion traditionlist bullshit! most of the people here are just being a mouthpeaces of the propaganda they been indoctrinated with by the "educational" industry. this is the hip forums and i'm shock that not one person so far has brought up non-traditional or, hippie colleges and college degree programs! now to your question... FUCK YES, YOU CAN GO TO COLLEGE AND GRADUATE TOO! here is what you need to do: it's called LIFE/work planning. you will need to do some research and un-learn alot of what you have taught. you will need some time out to grow too. you will need to get two books. the first book is entitled "the three boxes of life: and how to get out of them," by richard nelson bolles. the second book is entitled "bear's guide to non-traditional college degrees," by john bear. you can get these books at any book store or order them online. if you get these two books please check here with us. i would like to know how it is going with you.
anyone who can pay tuition and pass their s.a.t.'s can. there are other alternatives and answeres too. you may not be able to get into the most hoopdeedoo universities, you might not be able to get into a uni at all, but you can always take classes at a community college, or take an apprenticeship or what have you. it's not so much about grades, other then for getting into those ones the politicians and ceo's and top eschilon engineers go to, as it is about having learned enough to be able to understand what the proffs are talking about, without their having to stop and tutor you on one and one equals two. its also, depending on where you are, about being able to buy the materials you need to do well in the classess you take. and that means not just the required texts, but whatever kinds of equipment is involved too, periferal reading, and again of course, tuition. =^^= .../\...
A lot of it depends what you want a degree in. What kind of collage do you want to try to go to? If you want to be a doctor it is a lot more difficult and expensive then if you want to be a computer technician.
unlearning and life/work-planning are not what he asked about. he mentioned grades and admissions standards so we talked about educational institutions. your response would've been appropriate had he asked about alternatives to traditional education.
I've had friends with a lot lower GPA get into some really decent universities. My recommendation, like amny others, would be to go for a few years at a community college then transfer BUT be damn sure your credits will tranfer btn the 2 college you're looking at. I tried to transfer from a small university to a bigger one, and NONE of my credits tranferred when I moved. So keep that in mind, but you can Definitely get into some kind of higher education program
Here are two words you need to know: open admissions. I work at a state university in Ohio that accepts all students within the state and lots of people from out of state. I suggest you look for a school in your state with open admissions in your state.
