I hadn't seen it, so I looked it up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lg54xTaJ-Kc Yes it does seem to be deliberately provocative and divisive and will doubtless appeal to BNP and Daily Mail types ... it being BBC2 though I'm sure the season of programmes itself will be very far from that, most likely thoughtful and interesting explorations of some of the issues surrounding immigration, multiculturalism and changing traditions. I'll follow it with interest. The promotional trailer seems a little questionable if not outright offensive in its implications, and I would be very surprised if the BBC doesn't receive large numbers of complaints about it. Is it still airing?
I saw it again tonight I find it so damn offensive...even personally offensive, and i have really pale skin! Just seems crazy. As i said, i wouldnt mind one bit if they did illustrate an interesting and intelligent debate about a multicultural society...but with the colour used, obviously refering to skin, and the music and the "is white britain becoming invisible" thing...oh my lord, i cant even believe it. Sounds like racist scare tactics in nazi propaganda! so stupid
i'd never seen the ad before till watching the YouTube clip. it started out interesting, was wondering why they were writing on the guy's face. it does look like something that will appeal tot he BNP/Daily Mail readers for certain. Will be interesting to see what the program does talk about, but have a feeling I'll be rolling my eyes a lot if i go to watch it.
Heh, and then you realise they're all by Rah, and suddenly doing the washing up looks far more appealing... I agree though, it's been really quiet in terms of valuable posts because of all the boring shouting going on from a minority...
yeah, you hit the nail on the head there, my man. though i still haven't done the washing up
Yeah, there definitely comes a point. When its so obviously just spreading bullshit to be a bit of an idiot...every single time...im hoping its all change by the time im back
Go ahead ban me - it wont alter the fact that what I have said is true and also to just sit there saying "oooh Rah's posting stuff we dont like" rather makes you look like you have no real answers to questions about UK culture and UK oriented life, so when was the last time you posted something relevent to the UK that couldnt have sat just as easily in any other of the forums at hipforums.com ???? If you dont likeit dont read it ! but since I havent written anything offensive your best bet is to complain to the BBC about their advert - Its more unreasonable for you to request I am banned and infact is against hipforum rules if you bother to read them, than it is for me to suggest what I have done To ask that someone is banned is itself a bannable offence
you certainly know how to always twist peoples words, rah i liked you better when you posted riot vids to be honest
Who saw it then? I thought it was quite funny, slightly poignant. I loved the argument about If you don't vote you got no right to complain that was hilarious! "You don't even vote BNP!" I'm sure I heard at the end LOL I can sort of understand where some of them are coming from though, it is true that there is a huge unregulated immigrant worker black market going on and folks back home haven't got jobs as a result. It is a problem the country is facing, whether you agree with the racists or not. I've lived in Manchester and around that part of the country there are gangs of Asians going around get up to all sorts of miscreancies, but then so are the local scallywags! They are both as bad as each other. There is no point in denying that there is a growing support for the BNP, I'm not going to deny them a voice. I just wish that voice was a bit more constructive and intelligent than it is. I dunno blech or something, discuss, drink a beer and have a think about it, yeah?
There was another ad for a programme ccalled white girl or something.. On at nine on bbc2 on some day or other..
It is the latest issue. White people. But why? I wonder whether it should really be about indiginous people of Britain. Not whites. Basically, the indiginous people like myself, are not being heard. If we voice our concerns about how immigration is controlled, or oppose uncontrolled immigration, we are labeled as racists, neo nazi etc. I will be watching the "White season" with particular interest. It is something new and courageous for the BBC. But they are not the only channel company to be controversial. I remember the Brass Eye years, with a chill down my spine
The Enoch documentary seemed relatively balanced. I'm friends with his great niece. She said once that he was right, but couldn't really explain why, silly girl....
I was at Cambridge at the same time as Enoch Powell's daughter Jenny. We had several mutual acquaintances but I never spoke to her. He was right aout some things, e.g. capital punishment and nuclear weapons.
