The Greenland Whalefishers. Their song Father MacLean is a Headbanger cracks me up everytime :D

Early up on the Sunday morning
Wash his face, have a quick shave and a single cup of tea
Grab his sermon, his eyes start glowing
He knows a great light in life, he wanna share with you and me
    He's no jerk
    He's dressed for pulpit work

    Saturday's an other story
Walkin' down rainy streets to join another side of life
Always late, "hey love let's hurry"
Hand in hand with a sunshine who will soon become his wife
    Hey that's cool
    Let the good time rule

    Father McLean is a headbanger
Bang his head when the music rules the air

    He's inside, a sound injection
Yes we all need some kicks to push our logic on a ride
He joins the "I don't care direction"
He lays off sad confessions, doubts and teenage suicide
    Now you're free
    Shake your brain McLean

I recently discovered Paul Baribeau and I'm digging what I've heard so far. I'll be sure to check out the genre more and report back with anything I find.

I kindof like wingnut dishwasher's union more than johnny hobo... rosa is good too, and everyone knows defiance, ohio. I'm undecided about their new album though :/

everything from the riot folk collective is pure awesome, tom frampton is beast.

I need to get a hold of some folk punk. I've been hearing about stuff like this quite a bit and it sounds like an interesting mixture. What should I look for?

Check out any album by Against Me before New Wave.
This Bike Is a Pipe Bomb is good.
Mischief Brew has a good album called Songs From Under the Sink.
Johnny Hobo and the Freight Trains is a rather raw sounding folk punk band.
Defiance, Ohio is also another good one.
