I go to SIUE, and live in the area. So far I haven't had much luck finding any good peaceful people. I hope this post will help. I know there are a lot more up north in the chicago area, but with school ties and lack of funds, I'm not moving for some time. If anyone goes to the school or lives anywhere in the surrounding area and feels the same way, please hit me up. We are few and far between down here and this is the call for coming together. There are a few positives about southern Illinois. It is cheap living. Especially in spring and fall, the camping is fine. Lots of space. Look forward to meeting you.

You might think about heading to Carbondale or the surrounding area. There are tons of festivals within driving distance (Schwag, Cavestock, etc) and I'm sure at least some of the festival goers are from your area. I go to Edwarsville for my work from time to time, but it's business driven and I'm on a time schedule. Would it be worth it to actually spend some time there and check out some bars/local scene?
I plan on hitting up one of the schwagstocks this summer/fall. Sadly, Edwardsville is not a bumping town. Thursdays are college nights and tend to be busiest, which sucks because I have 8:00 class Fridays. The Stager has most of the music scene, lot of bands and open mike nights. Lauries Place has food and bar. There's also Rustys and Jury Room. But the bars are never that full. I just turned 21 so I don't know them that well yet, but I get the vibe that there isn't a lot of dancing going on if you know what I mean.

I have a friend going to siu actually. Yeah, like saluki said. Good amount of festis going on in that area. There is another at the s.peter caves next week i believe. Not a bad lil place for locals to meet actually.
Im bout an hour and a half north of carbondale, my girlyfriends just finished the semester down there though. I havent been down there since polar bear
