Hey, I was just wandering, what do you vegans eat instead of egg? as i am vegetarian but tend to rely heavily on egg for protein. but considering going vegan, this would be a problem. maybe i should experiment with tofu, are there any easily accesible high protein alternatives. I also would like to kick milk, but it seems i hear so much about the many nutrients etc it contains, obviously just thinking about milk i dont actually really want to drink it, but does soya milk really contain as amuch good stuff? and another question, is it possible eating too much fruit can have negative effects on you? I eat 4/5 pieces a day but would like to eat more. any advice welcome =D
I eat tofu instead of eggs... it makes a good "scrambled egg" that you can add stuff into like an omelette. Nuts & nut-butters are high in protein. Soymilk, oatmeal, rice, cereals & any of your "breakfast bars" would all have protein too, but if you want something that looks & tastes kind of like egg the only substitute I know of is tofu. Whether soy milk is as good as dairy milk or not seems to be a bit of a hot topic. It seems to be generally accepted that for prepubescent boys it's not the greatest, but other than that it depends on who you listen to. Generally the argument seems to be about GMOs & added sweeteners. It's not everywhere, but you CAN find soymilk that doesn't have either of these though! Costco has some of the cheapest love, mom
no worries... it's sort of like tie dye threads: same three-four questions. Also, which sub depends on what you want it to do. the best explanation I've seen of the role of eggs in baking from a vegan perspective is on www.theppk.com
Most soy milk is fortified with the same stuff as milk... otherwise you can take vitamin D & calcium supplements
im in the same position.check out the vegan society website, its really helpful.tofu is definately good though!
