not everywhere...I have this desire to go to the ruins of Babylon right now as a vacation..but unfortunately its location is 50 miles south of Baghdad..I am just not sure how safe or friendly the people will be with me.

Well if that was my goal. I would learn the language. Study the customs, dress like they do, act like they do.

Or hire a security team to go with you.

I've considered the 'world with no borders' question a lot.

Theoretically, I love the idea. Go where I like, no visa restrictions, no border guards.

Realistically though, if we opened all world borders tomorrow, would the infrastructure in developed countries collapse under the weight of the sudden influx of economic migrants?

This hasn't happened as yet in Europe, since the borders with new, poorer EU countries were opened last year but that was done in stages and most of these people are not as desperate as some of the world's poorest inhabitants.

    I dunno.

so refreshing to see such optimism. everyone would sing kumbaya and hold hands. Unfortunately, thats not likely to happen. people are always on the look out for number one, and always will. I hope for the sake of future generations it comes true and we achieve world peace, stop abusing mother earth and marijuana will be legalized. we can all dream right?

Unfortunately it is nothing but a dream. With the state of the world and continuing to get worse everyday..it is only a sad reality of what could of been..somehow, the world went wrong..could it of been the love of money? No natural affection for one another? There are so many reasons..

Yeah that would be great. We are overflowing with Polish and Portugese people already, if all borders would be open I am sure we will be overflowing with even more foreigners.

treat people with respect and they will return respect to you

the same can not be said of those who buld and maintain borders

[treat people with fear and they will return fear to you]

    sounds like a perfect world.

could immigrants potentially devastate established economies? sure.
would this have a lasting destructive effect? I doubt it.. a period of struggle would be worth it.

The human race would become weak and docile

The world you speak of would stifle ambition and creativity, and we would all languish under the rulership of a new master sitting atop the food chain [IMG]

in a world without borders how can we have foreigers?
if someones here theyre hrere, if theyre not theyre not, but what woiuld they be foreign to?
without borders who exactly is this we you speak of?
without borders you go where you want to go live where you want to live
theres no seperation..no us antd them
no wars cause noone to go to war with
sure now we have vastly differing cultures which cause seperation also, but as the world opens up, people mix meet and understand eachother, the cultural influences become less pronounced

see you are trying to discuss a world of 1...unity..still comming from a us and them attiude of seperation

My mate went travelling to Syria a few years ago, around 2004, and he said the people were outrageously friendly. I think that you'd probably find the same if you went to Iraq. I don't think it is very safe though, but then again which country in the world is these days?

immigranytts and established economies also obsolete terms, immigrants from where to where?
no borders would mean therred have to be a single economy globaly,
would take some getting used to though...over 90$ would benifit greatly from it, a few percent woiuldnt change alot..and a few insanely rich might only be outragiosly rich afterward

oj a whole though the world would only benifit from removing the borders..theyve been getting in the way far too long already

you know who started borders? monkeys that pissed to establish turf and would beet another monkey to death if it walked in its area. i think we have become smart enough that we can just integrate. soon immigrants would be family and family would take the place of your oldest "enemies" (who are only people like you but you hate them because someone told you to. or passed on from generations of fighting. you might kill a man in war who could be your best freind in peace). soon we would not be muslims or mexicans or africans, we would all become humans. Without borders

The more borders there are, the more reasons people will have to cross them.
