He isn't neutered, but as soon as he can be he will be. I got him from my sister's bf and he was hurt pretty bad when I got him, about 3 weeks ago. I bring him to the vet, because he was bleeding pretty bad and could hardly walk. Turns out he had 4 abcesses and some other infections. I start his antibiotics, and in about 5 days he's feeling pretty good again and he escaped outside. Well, he comes home banged up again. This time it looks like another kitty has tried to eat his balls and tail. I bring him to the vet again for more antibiotics and pain meds. Well, no vet will neuter him right now until he is healed. The problem is, I'm moving tomorrow and I don't want him spraying everywhere, like he had been. The place I'm moving just got new carpet, and I dont want to end up replacing it. What can I do to keep is spraying at bay?

Consign him to the bathroom with a litter box and food/water until he's fixed.Sounds like he needs to be an indoor cat to keep from being beat up.Good luck.

I dunno.... I would suggest keeping an eye on him at all times. That's the only way we could stop ours was if we stopped them in the act!
Poor baby. You were good to take him in. Are you going to keep him?

Cats never live very long outside. My cat use to run for the door all the time. my husband started waiting behind the porch with the water hose and as soon as she shot the door he'd hit her with the water. I know it sounds mean but we live in the city and she'd die outside. He only had to do it 2 times and she never goes outside now. LOL She is a happy kitty indoors and a lot safer.

I'm with scratcho he needs to be confined at least until he gets fixed.

Post a photo if you get a chance. I love cats. Good luck with your new baby. :) Oh and your new house too!

I've attached a picture of the kitty, Slingblade, with his beloved stuff dog. He rapes that dog about 50 times a day. ;)

He looks real cute, but man, he's got attitude. He isn't actually an outside cat, but he tries to sneak outside every single time I open the door. He's relentless. Or he'll meow all night long because he wants to be outside that bad. As for keeping him in my bathroom, well, my bathroom is actually outside my apartment and there is a girl kitty, not spayed of course, who roams the downstairs hallway. Maybe a closet? Would that be mean? I have a closet that's really big...about 8 feet by 3 1/2 feet, but I'm not sure if that's really humane. I don't know much about cats. I was hoping there was a magic spray that would keep him from spraying, but I've been googling and the only thing I could find was to neuter, which I am going to do as soon as he heals, and prozac. I also live by myself and with school and work, I'm not home at all times to keep an eye on him. ugh!

But yeah, I plan on keeping him...I just pray that once he gets neutered he'll straighten up. He's about 10 months old. I hope it's not too late?

Ok, the image isn't showing up, so here is a link if you want to see the little bugger. I should get a better picture to show his half shaved tail.

Oh he's adorable. Thanks for posting that.

Maybe this will work: Feliway®, pheromone products offer a solution to help manage unwanted, stress-related behaviors in cats. This therapy works by spraying a 'friendly' pheromone in places where your cat sprays. Also available are plug in diffusers. These pheromones pacify cats who are spraying urine around the house.

I would take clean dry white cloth and gently rub it all over his face, since that is where a felines main scent glands are located. Next, take the cloth and wipe down any and all areas when you think he might be tempted to spray, especially places like window sills or front/back doors where he might see or sense other cats and feel a territorial threat.

If he manages to spray a spot, wipe it down with a mild bleach solution and then use the same cloth/scent method on the area.

The best of luck to you and your newest companion!

Thanks Toby. I'll have to try that.

I moved him in last night, and so far so good....I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed.
