The Grauniad is a nickname for The Guardian, basically back when they first started producing it, it was full of typos, and the joke was that the next thing they would mispell was the name of the newspaper. It's a centre-left (so basically american left) mainstream paper, used to be a broadsheet but they made it smaller.

The Grauniad is a nickname for the UK national newpaper...

Hmmm well I thought the Guardian was a reliable newspaper. Is it not? They ran the translator lying CIA story when no US paper would. Now I'm confused.

It's got a very good reputation, especially amongst the left wingers, I asked to get it in school rather than the Daily Mail or The Times, but they said they cpuldn't afford another newspaper. What a crap excuse, headmaster's a blatant conservative, obvious what they're trying to do.

    Hi all,

I just wanna say, I enjoy reading Rah's and nynysuts posts and others as well here.

Perhaps, if you guys we're in Berkeley, CA, during the 60's you would have appreciated the Berkeley Barb.

The Berkeley Barb was one of the first and most influential newspaper of the underground and counter-culture.

actually its got a good reputation amongst petit bourgeois middle class people who like nothing better than to moan that Julie Birchill has drawn a swastika on her tits and is openly mouthing "fuck you" to all the readers.

The Guardian is about as socialist as watching caviar licked off the tits of a princess by an oil billionaire. Its relationship to the left wing is again simply that it displays politically correct ideals that cut the balls off real political debate.

"Darling would you buy the guardian on the way home, the Forster-Fawcetts are popping over and I have told Svetlana she is to burn The Daily Mail the newspaper boy delivered incase they think we dont care about the maid and the polish butler"

As a socialist, I have to say, that's one of my favourite revolutionary activities....

You can read the Guardian's entire content online at http://www.guardian.co.uk/, including archives going back several years. Apparently it's particularly popular in the US. All freely available, no registration or subscription required.

I've never had a particular paper to read, although I like The Independent. They don't seem to be conservative or anything stupid like the tabloids, and more often or not I find myself agreeing with them. What kind of politics do they usually have? Left?

The Independant is supposed to be pretty midle of the road, but it is a left wing paper, there's not really any two ways about it. (oh ho, guess who took media studies)
