I just woke up from a VERY weird dream. Hella bizarre stuff. I really don't know how I'm supposed to interpret it. Here goes: My dream was set in a sort of realism/fantasy crossover. It took place in a perfectly normal 21th century city, but magic existed and everyone seemed aware of its existence. What's more, I wasn't my real-life persona; in my dream, I was a young girl who had magical powers, and all the events were seen from her perspective. I was using my magic to take the appearance of another woman, who had died a few weeks ago. Apparently, her family and friends weren't yet aware of her death; they all thought she was away on a trip or something. At the beginning of the dream, I was sitting alone in a bus. I looked through the windows: it was dark and rain poured down heavily on the city streets. Finally, the bus arrived to its destination. Outside, a man in a suit was waiting under an umbrella. He was the husband of the woman I was impersonating (the one who died a while ago). He was convinced I was her. When I got off, he ran to me and embraced me, saying he missed me terribly. Whe walked together through the rain until we arrived at his parent's house. When he saw us coming, his dad opened the door and we went inside. His mom and some of his younger brothers and sisters were sitting on a large sofa. They seemed glad to see me back (or should I say, glad to see my false identity back). They asked me all sorts of questions, and I wasn't sure how to answer. I was afraid of saying something out-of-character for the woman I was impersonating. I was afraid of getting caught, and I was getting very nervous. I tried to back away from the conversation. The family thought I was acting strange, but my "husband" said it was just because I needed some rest. I walked away from the others and started exploring the house. In one room, I found a portrait of the woman I was impersonating. Funny thing is, I was the only one who didn't see the illusion. The woman on the portrait was full-figured, but when I looked down at myself, I saw that I was much more slender and petite. Nothing like the girl on the picture. I guess I could see through my own magic. A bit later, my "husband" said we had to leave early to visit some other friend. We exited the house and got back on the street. It was still raining heavily. We walked together until we arrived at some sort of large mansion. My "husband" opened the door. It was HUGE inside and the walls were adorned with rich decorations. As soon as we walked in, a ferocious-looking dog ran to us. When he saw my "husband", he groaned and tried to look scary. But when he looked in my direction, he suddenly calmed down and had a confused expression on his face. As we walked further into the house, I saw a room where a very old man was lying on a bed. This was the friend my "husband" came to see. The old man saw me and looked deep into my eyes. That man had magical powers too. I could sense it. I felt him looking deep inside my mind, seeing through my disguise. Immediatly, he knew who I really was. He asked my "husband" if he could talk to him...alone. My "husband" entered the room and closed the door behind him, leaving me alone in the hallway. That was it, I thought. The old man was gonna reveal my true identity. For some reason, I didn't try run away. I just stood there until my "husband" came out of the room. Tears were running down his cheeks and he looked positively FURIOUS. He started yelling at me, saying he knew who I really was. I started crying. All of a sudden, my illusion started to wear off. I regained my true appearance, the tiny girl with magic powers. I tried to stop my sobbing to explain why I tried to take his wife's place, but he didn't want to hear any of it. He punched me in the face, hard. I fell to the floor. And then I woke up... Anyone got any clue what any of this might mean?
On another note, did anyone else have dreams where you had a totally different identity? I mean, I'm a 20 years old man who's generally cool-headed, but in that dream, I was a younger woman who was sensitive and cried easily. So I had both a different physical appearance AND a different personality! Have you ever experienced something like that? Is that kind of dream common?
shape shifting is something i've always wanted to be able to do in a dream. but mostly in my dreams i'm not even awaire of my shape or even of having one. closest i came one time was wearing a mechanical unfolding d'arsonval wing (like a hang glider, only more like a prosthetic, subconscously controlled, as if it were a shape shifted part of me, but i think pretty definately a mechanical rig of some kind i was wearing, as part of the critter suit i was wearing at a furcon, where i did, in that dream, i was some kind of investigator or cop or something, and there were some mafioso types i was persuing, and the wing gizmo actually did work to fly with, and actually did fold up enough to not get in the way going through doors or anything when walking arround inside. in fact i think it was kind of concealed and somone may have pushed me off a balcony intending to kill me not realizing or knowing i was wearing it). well if you had transformed into or back into something other then just a different appearing human i'd have said you were discouvering your inner psychic powers. maybe that's still the case, but that particular detail casts some wee bit of doubt. maybe it's a matter of your imagination requiring further development before you'll be able to use, gain, exercise, a degree of visualization control that would be useful in doing so. =^^= .../\...
In my opinion, I believe your dream cast you in the role of a girl with feminine emotions etc. to show you a part of yourself that you may not be aware of or might be neglecting. Every male has a feminine side of the brain, vice versa with women, if not then we would not be a whole person. Personally, I've never shape shifted into anything in my dreams, but there has been similar occurrences which I could divulge. I remember part of a dream I had a few days ago, I recalled being outside a house standing on a wooden deck. Looking on the ground near a tree I saw the remains of a deer (doe) which had its face completely removed. Immediately suspecting a murderer was on the loose, I went inside the house. Gazing out an open window that faced the deck, I saw the deer on the deck, alive and looking wildly aggressive. As it came closer to the window, I felt a stroke of fear in the back of my mind. Not knowing what was to come, I put my head through the window and kissed it. The deer shape shifted into a beautiful woman in the middle of the kiss. That's the last of that dream I can recall. This second dream doesn't really involve shapeshifting, but more so change of identity/perspective. This was several years earlier than the last dream. The beginning of the dream I'm in a pitch black space. I see light from a small square tunnel just in front of me about shoulder level. As I reach for the tunnel, I look down and see a small rectangular pool of dark shimmering water that I'd have to climb over to reach the tunnel. Someone anonymous whispered in my ear, "there's something down there." Being the curious type I am, I lower my head and gaze deeply into the pool. I see the vague outline of what can best be described as a small "gremlin-like" creature swimming in the pool. I said to myself "what is that?" I squinted and got closer, only to hear a frightful gurgling noise from the creature. I shuddered away from it and decided to venture through the tunnel on my hands and knees. The tunnel was only a couple meters long and I soon found myself crawling out into a large hallway. The hallway was circular, looking to the left it curved off to the right, looking right it curved off to the left. The hallway wrapped around a large open area, an extravagant garden lush with plants I've never seen before filled the room. Having no ceiling here, I looked up to see hundreds of floors with the same open circular hallway on each floor. There were so many floors that it seemed as if it went up forever. Highlights of green, purple, and silver designs adorned the inside walls of the floors resembling what I thought to be alien architecture. Moving on, I went left down the hallway and as it curved slightly to the right, I came upon a staircase in the left wall. I felt like I was part of a group and there were at least 3 or 4 people behind me in this group. As I turned the corner to ascend the stairs, my point of view completely shifted. Everything slowed down matrix style, my perspective left my original body and flew up the stairs where I saw an alien hiding on the right side around a corner at the top of the stairs (typical alien, gray skin, large black almond shaped eyes). My perspective "flew" into the alien where I assumed the alien's role. I was having thoughts about these intruders coming up the stairs. Ill ideas filled my head as to what I was going to do when they reached this 2nd floor. I heard their footsteps hit the second-to-last step, so I took this opportunity to spring out with a surprise attack. The first person I saw in the group is my older brother two years my senior, although he was facing away from me (the alien) and toward the rest of the group. Full of anger, I jumped on his back and hissed at the rest of the group similar to Smeagol from Lord of the Rings. Complete opposition and disregard for me and my group trying to explore. Well, I know it wasn't exactly shape shifting but I thought it was a cool dream. I later translated the "alien" in the dream to represent a marijuana habit I had at the time, my older brother who was supporting it. The change of perspective revealed to me a side of my self that was thwarting my progress in the dream world. Well, hoped you enjoyed reading. I tried to make it as interesting and detailed as possible. Anyone have ideas on the subjects?
