I think they're scum by nature...and most of them choose to stay scum for the rest of their lives.
I just dont believe much in human kindness.

Now Janja, remember that we only see what we want to see, not what is actually happening. Sort of like when I think of your name, I sound it out like Ganja because I want it to sound like that, but that doesnt mean that's how it actually sounds.
Well with people, people are changing at every moment, and if we only want to see the bad in them while ignoring the good, we limit the observed people but we also limit ourselves. We are both scums and kynd, but we fit the role of either differently according to every situation.

Sometimes people do absolutely nothing to show their kindness.
And dont think I'm ignoring the good, I do all I can to find atleast something good in everyone. But its sad that people show kindness only when they feel like it and when they're happy. Cause people around them need that kindness in other , less pleasent moments.

And please, dont think my name is pronounced like Ganja...Thats annoying...Ah, you Americans...

Ok I hear you Janja, sometimes it is overwhelming to capture the image in your mind of the world of people, with so many living in a way that hurt other people, and how when we go in public so many of us treat each other like lower life forms. It is sad, really.

It's not really about kindness...the idea that the mark of righteousness is ultimate selflessness is deeply flawed. If everyone is supposed to do things for others, no one is doing anything for oneself, and thus has no idea what is even valuable to bestow upon others. Just like the thought that one must think of society before thinking of himself is deeply flawed because "society" is not a person, it's a collection of persons, and if you're only thinking of what is good for society your good intentions are not directed at anyone at all, and the ultimate monument to this type of thinking is something like Nazi Germany.

People need to serve themselves first, to create their own value set from trial and error in the natural world. Then they know what value is, and the proper way for dealing with others is trade, value for value, a selfish act that benefits all. Obviously, the thing missing is that we don't live in a natural world, we live in a madmade one, in which we inherit our values and can only measure our success in terms of the potential that was defined for us before we were born.

What is the premise of this thread again?....sorry, I'll shut up.

    I have no reasonable answer.
I just dont like being around them or holding them. I cant handle them or deal with them.
They are so small, demanding and helpless, which is annoying ( I know thats not their fault and its horrible of me to even say that ).

OK, I understand. But as they are little people, does that make them inherently scum or is that something that life does to them?

Its well known that these little people are selfish and self centered. Its a scientific fact. Kids cant and dont think of anything else besides themselves.
And this selfishness stays with people forever. Some deal with it and repress it. Some dont.
So we are all scum deep inside. Even the 'good people' are scum. They just dont let this selfishness develop any further.
