Writing an essay on hippies for Jr. English and I need five sources I can cite. I have a few sections instead of paragraphs so that I can stuff more info to bring, since we have to make a powerpoint and present it. I am just looking for some material to cover in each section, here they are: (1) Intro (2) culture(style of clothing beliefs and lifestyles in general) (3) music and influences on music (4) People that are well known hippies or just similar types (5) Drugs events like gatherings and concerts and places like San Fran Eugene and other hippie hotspots. If anyone has suggestions or can offer alterations I can make to build a great essay I would be very thankful.
Essays are the only thing I get good grades on. Wrote a Bud essay called Legalize It! A comparison between Iraq and Vietnam called what else? Iraq vs. Vietnam. and Government Mule about world government cover ups and lies. So far I have got A+ A+ and A so I want this to be the topper to my changing the views of at least my class.
Iraq Vs Vietnam is too easy. If you really want to impress your teachers and show stoners can do well in school, write about Iraq Vs Vietnam Vs the Philippines. So you need actual sources or just ideas? If you need to cite stuff, I'd recommend looking at Rolling Stone's archive and finding articles. If you want a cool idea for the music part, I listen almost exclusively to rap nowadays(after the first 15 years mainly rock) and I'm a firm believer that Dylan's Subterranean Homesick Blues is one of the major influences of rap being created, especially the earlier stuff which concentrate more on wordplay than the beat.
If it were me, I would trend the final thoughts toward where some of the people from this generation are now or what they ended up doing with their lives. Bill Walton, Peter Coyote, Terence McKenna, and Syd Barret could be interesting choices.
u know what might be more interesting even, which is along the same lines but might challenge views even a lil more would be a history of the rainbow family part of the hippie movement was challenging authority, and the rainbow has proven like never before that authority is not nesacary, and when you think about it, what were the (for lack of a better term) main battlecries of tyhe movement? peace and unity..make love not war..the family has created a nation, without borders without leaders or authority figures, that unites all people from all countries beliefs and walks of life has spread to every country in thre world exists peacefuly within every political system has no government but self government, has no business jobs or economy but works through cooperation barter and giving..doing for the joy of doing, not for monatary or material rewards see the problem i find with tryoing to change minds oin your school by reports onthe hippie movement is this, theres no relevance for them, they look at oit as something that happened, with good intentions maybe but what do they see as a result? were still dealing with wars, they see heroin meth crack addictions as a result of the lets do drugs attitude..they see aids as a result of the sexual revolution but they dont see a whole lot of the possitive chanfes the movement was reaching for...and they see it as over..a part of tyhe past but the rainbow pretty much started around when it "ended' and grew for 36 years accomplishing much of tyhe goals of the movement, not globaly as in changing the lives of everyone in the world and creating world peace, but, by finding a way to have those goals met despite the fact that governments and religions refuse to allow global peace im not making alotta sence really tired..lol but i think u get what im saying dont u? everyones aware hippies wore tie dies smoked weed and listened to music and generaly supportred certain causes nothing new there and not alot to learn but...how many are aware that theres still today millions worldwide creating a society outside society and governing a nation without a government? teach the teacher something she isnt aware of and watch the a++ become a+++++
