Hey everyone...so we all know traveling with friends makes vacations and trips a lot more entertaining and interesting.

What I'm wondering is how you guys go about collecting money that is owed to you afterwards? Because we ALL have lent friends money on trips. And it just adds up over the duration of the trip lol. I think it's such a hassle collecting exact amount owed from multiple people...any ideas and solutions before my next roadtrip with the buds?

Any help or feedback is appreciated! :)

ask them going into it to pay half way for gas and like its common curtosy if someone pays for dinner, the next night then you pay for dinner. i like to split everything in the middle that way no one gets short of money. or you could just pay for yourself and have them do the same. i think if youve known them for a while or trust them, then go ahead. its money, if you work, you can always get it back...

we all know this? I disagree. I much prefer travelling alone.

and I'm also quite sure we all haven't lent money to friends while travelling.

there is no reason to loan your friends money unless for some reason they have no cash (stolen/lost wallet or card, etc) in which case I'll lend them larger sums so they have their own money to spend and it's easier for them to keep track of how much to pay me back. and I don't collect the money afterwards. they should pay you back automatically, if they don't, that's how much it cost you to learn this person is not a friend to you.

    Thanks for the suggestions veroness.

Sorry Jimmy P...didn't mean to generalize everyone and assuming they've all had the same thing happen to them.

I was thinking a money transfer service would be a great way to handle the situation in collecting payment from those that owe me.

Anybody here heard of MoneyExchange before?

I could just request the exact amount owed to me from each person and have them transfer me the money via online. Quick and painless for me lol. That would take care of the hassle part...

They're even offering new users $25 to sign up too (and signing up is free), which I thought was pretty neat.

    What do you guys think?

sounds sketchy. looking back at my last post, I must've been in a bad mood that day. sorry if I sounded overly harsh.

any service that's offering you money to use it (if I understand you right) I would be quite wary of. if you want to do online money transfers, I would personally stick to paypal. might not be the greatest service, and they do charge you $2 to get started, but it's reliable.

I would recommend you tell the guys who owe you money that you lent them money, and they should pay you back. in the future, I would do what veroness recommends; going halves or paying your own way. although I'd sooner recommend that you try traveling by yourself, less hassle, less worries, more fun :)

No need to apologize Jimmy P. No hard feelings. :)

Well, going through their website, it's a secure and safe way to handle money. It's pretty legitimate.

The $25 bonus for signing up is just that, a bonus I guess. lol

Here's the website you can see for yourself- http://www.revmoney.com

As for the friends owing the money from previous trips, that's already been taken care of...just thinking about future road trips, vacations, etc...you know.
