My mother and father met whilst working at debears [the diamond company]

My father was a clever [diamond cutting] and me mother sorted diamonds.

She left work when she had me, and didnt bother going back. My dad stayed on untill he was made redundent, at which point he bought his own jewlery shop and ran that untill he retired.

I'm a marine engineer/boatbuilder - and with that comes electrics, plumbing, gas, carpentry... everything associated with fitting a boat out. I'm the manager of the enginering "part" - boat building, servicing, repairs.

The rest of the company is boat hiring for holidays on the norfolk broads - which is run/managed by the family who own it.

My dad is retired, my mom is supposed to be retired, but seeing as she has been working full-time since she was 16, I think she is afraid to. Kind of like lifers in prison...

    Its not THAT boring...

My dad is actually a lawyer, but he never worked as one. He was always in political journalism, writing for several newspapers and stuff like that. He was also a war correspondant and now he works at a radio station.
My mom doesnt work cause she doesnt want to ( ?! ).
And my sister is in college, studying journalism. She has never worked and neither have I.

Lol...We are talking about the guy that was offered a great job in Melbourne but turned it down cause at that point he was too scared to get on a plane.

    Fascinating thread.

Both of my parents are MDs by degree, but my mom worked as a director of a bio-technological laboratory most my life while my father worked as an artist/jewelry maker... and then eventually stop working.

Right now my mama travels through art shows and sells yarnwork she does, my dad ain't working, and my stepdad is a retired businessman.
