Murray needed some firewood so i offered us to go to my protperty several times to get what I had stacked there for camp woood. Well the day after we recieved about 3" of sleet and ice rain he decided he needed the wood before it gets real bad. We head up there with his Ford 3/4 ton 2 wheel drive truck and my property being on top of the hill has a small hill for a driveway into it. He hits the hill and holds his speed at 25MPH, mind you we are not moving that fast just slingin rock and shit everywhere. Why dont people know how to drive in winter conditions? You can use a little talent in driving to get around alot better than grunt throttle. In his case he could have had them tires spinning at 5mph and still covered the same amount of ground just as fast and less mess for me to deal with after the ground is clear again.
Don't know if a RWD pickup without any extra weight over the rear tires is something I'd care to attempt in ice conditions. Instinct tells me to slow crawl along... if I'm spinning tires trying to give gas then I let up on the accelerator. I have front wheel drive on a small car though my tires aren't the best and the weight distribution isn't the greatest I can get around ok in snow and ice. I feel MUCH safer late at night when there aren't alot of other cars out there. What gets me is that even when the roads aren't treated, people still like to tailgate. So help me, if someone slides into me because they were on my ass, I'm going to slam their face into their steering wheel repeatedly until the gurgling stops. The key is to do whatever speed your car will do and keep its line and don't put yourself in a situation where you have to brake at all. If I can do 35 ok but the guy in front of me is doing 20, I do 20 and stay way back... far enough to where if his brake lights show all I have to do is let off the accelerator and decelerate to about 5 mph and only use my brake for the last bit. Impossible to pull this off during the day- asshole will dive in to that space. If I hit someone who has cut me off- see head slamming into steering wheel measure above. I HATE that people take my safety out of my hands because they can't set aside a little extra time to account for bad driving conditions. They should gather all the shitty, inconsiderate motorists, use duct tape to bundle them all together, then run them all over with a loaded, speeding tractor-trailer.
See people in Georgia know that's impossible to drive in snowy conditions. Towns just shut down when the white stuff sticks to the ground.
