I try to do everything as efficiently and cheaply as possible, so it's nothing new when it comes to keeping my laptop cool.

I'm just wondering how everyone else does it? Did you make something from scratch? Just some logical idea?

Personally, I keep the back of my laptop raised up to keep the room for cold air to go into the fans as big as possible. With the laptop raised up, it's easily 10% cooler than just sitting on the table, and it keeps the keyboard on an angle which I find easier to type on.

I have a little trick I use when I rebuild my own, or others. I don't think I should recommend it because it is a very meticulous task. Actually, I recommend against you open up the laptop unless you have lots of desktop rebuilding experience and a work manual specifically for your laptop model.

No I use the heat from my laptop to keep my coffee cup warm on the bottom...
I had a lighter explode once from it sitting up against the exaust fan.. Got hot enough it went POOOOF>>>> It was the funniest thing that happened to me in a while... Not so funny if it would of hit me in the eye.

I put mine on a cake cooling rack. Cost 0, since I already had the rack. Worked like a charm.
