My name is John, and I'm 15 years old. I'm a pretty chill kid. I used to be a giant sports freak and was a giant Baseball and Basketball sports jock. But I have receded from the popularity and mainstream society altogether over the last few years. I have been a Vegetarian for about... ehh, 8 months in February(circa). What I do for enjoyment involves Meditation and not so much anymore skating. I enjoy learning more about Spiritual related things, and also Politics. I'm big on being politcally aware because it is almost a necessity nowadays. I'm a big fan of the "Peace and Love" movement. You know the type. I don't like to draw attention to myself, but I also do like bringin attention to the cause. Meaning, me and my buddies do mass cleanup sprees because we respect Environmental Rights, while simlulteanously holding up signs against the war, against religion, and other things that limit us as free spirits. I was a Christian for the majority of my life, but around the same time I began to open my eyes to the injustices, I also learned to question authority. It seems as the Christianity couldn't hold up to it's great claims, and is indeed based on Falsity. So since then, I've strayed away from Religion aswell, but I am very Spiritual. I indentify with alot of the culture involved with the Rastafarianism, Hinduism, and Buddhism. I do not believe G-d to be an old man in the sky. In fact, I have yet to find G-d. However, I do know G-d is the divinity inside of us all, but also that It is Nature all at once. Understand? I don't. It will take some time of soul searching and meditation to reach my goal of understanding, but that's alright; I'm still young. Any questions/comments/concerns, feel free. Namaste, John.
- Who would be the ideal candidate to win the US elections? - Who do you think will actually win it? - What's your opinion of anarchism as a political philosophy? - Is religion truly the "root of all evil", as some of the more millitant atheists claim? - have you read The God Delusion, by Richard Dawkins?
Dennis Kucinich FTW. Ron Paul is probably going to win it, if not him then maybe Hilary. That might be a bit of a stretch though. Anarchism as a Political Philosophy? I consider myself an Anarchist to some extent. They fail to realize that without Government, since most of the people are corrupted and lust for Power and Greed anyways, things wouldn't go as planned. I don't see why not to consider Anarchism valid though, it is a cult that is good intentioned. And with the current U.S. Government, I don't blame them for believing what they do! Religion is NOT the root of all evil. However, a majority of trials and wars have been because of religion, but I think people fail to see what Religion is about. It's not TRULY about praising G-d, if that were the case people wouldn't have a problem with just considering themselves spiritual. It is a about a chosen few having power over others, and using religion as a tool. So what is the "root of all evil"? why... Humans of course.* I have not, is it recommended? * - "Evil" is a reflection of the dualistic nature of the mind, and therefore a very liquid concept. I answered to the best of my ability without getting into a conversation about the mind. @ Nynysuts I'm glad you've awaken aswell. Yes I like them, however they are better known to me as "The Dead".
Maybe "the asleep" would be a better term. Reading The God delusion is recommended, Dawkins makes some valid points. he attacks religion a bit, but considering the things it's done i don't really blame him.
Aye. I'll look into grabbing a copy. Since we are on Books, may I suggest a few? The Art of Happiness by HH the Dalai lama Hearts in Atlantis by Stephen King Digital Fortress by Dan Brown I've read better, but these are just a few.
I can't see Ron Paul winning. He's a niche candidate for tin hat nutjobs and hasn't won a single primary to date. I expect Hillary, though I'd prefer Edwards or Obama of the three main Democratic contenders. Welcome to the forums
Hello John welcome along to the forums, always nice to see a new face If you were trapped in an airtight room with Noel Edmonds, would you kill him: a) immediately, thus ensuring the maximum amount of time in which you could be rescued b) when it becomes clear that rescue may take some time and that both of you will probably not survive c) as a last resort when the air is beginning to run out or d) after you got out?
Haha, what IS it with you and Noel Edmunds? Those are all good books, but if you're into Stephen King I'd suggest The Dark Tower. A complete departure from the shlock-horror he's known for, it's incredible - almost like a different writer. I'd rate it as just below Dune in awesomeness (go get that one as well!) Whereabouts are you anyway? You talked about baseball so I'm thinking Yankland, but it's becoming more popular over here as well.
I've already read Dune, it's a great book. Hearts in Atlantis starts out all horrorlike, but is mainly about the War Protesters against Vietnam. Dark Tower? Ok, will keep in mind. Thanks my friend. And by the way, Yankland is correct. So are you guys all well acquainted, a family, if you will?
hey not as clever Qs but oh well... Did you ever own a slinky? Did you ever read A Series Of Unfortunate Events? If you were a kitchen appliance of choice which would you be?
hey there, belated welcome was there one moment/realisation/event in particular that turned you veggie? where do you stand on pacifism? what would your dream job be? and what is your favourite type of cheese? (this is the most important question, if you only answer one make it this one.)
