Why do Americans make fun of the rest of the world?

Why do Americans have a tendency and an inclination to make fun of the rest of the world. They ridicule British people about their bad teeth and when they talk about French, they say " French people stink! ". Rightfully, the truth of the matter is completely the opposite. According to the International survey, the British are way ahead of the Americans in dental care and oral hygiene. And, French people use more soap and perfume per capita than Americans do. It appears the French are ahead of Yankees in hygiene but they keep it to themselves, and they never brag about this particular issue. However, Americans, always consider themselves to be "the best" and almost always make fun of the French, the British, the Mexicans and/or the rest of the world. Why is that?!

as i said before, i don't think americans are alone in making funof other cultures. we dutchmen make fun of the belgian and the german and they in their turn make fun of us when they find something to make fun of in dutch culture

 

Why does the rest of the world think every American makes fun of the rest of the world?

You also have to understand that British (and more) people also pick on us. But I don't believe we truly have anything against each other.

Each country makes fun off the other ones
The dutch makes fun of belguim and germany.

The US makes fun of English and french.

I think the main reason is that most people only know the stereo types that are from that country, and make fun of them.
Many people over here in the US when I find out I am from the Netherlands ask me if I lived in a windmill, have wooden shoes, had tulips, ate alot of cheese, smoked pot, visit the hookers and so on.
If you think all the people are like that in a country, yes they will make fun of them.
But on the coin flip, here I know more people that smoked pot, then when I was back home in the Netherlands. Also there are more topless bars here around then what I have seen in Amsterdam.

I don't think it's stolen. The americans who 'stole' it were those immigrants. It just spreaded and mixed with the cultures of other immigrants (like the africans).
