Im Gone

Hey guys, well it is time for me to find a more enjoyable, greener, pasture. I won't be around anymore. There are just too many new, mis-informed, posters/members around here these days. Not even enjoyable to come on and read through the threads anymore. If one is going well and a good topic, it just gets gummed up with people hatin on each other. And if it's not that, it's stupid, simple questions that if the OP took 5min to search for the answer before he/she posted the thread, he/she could answer their question for themselves. I'll probably check in from time to time, but not often. To all those that i've had convo's with and helped or have gotten help from......take it easy! Peace.

I used to be a member of a billiards forum, but I left because all they ever do is argue about politics. Even threads that started out having nothing to do with politics turns to an argument about it. It's a real shame to watch a good forum go bad.

I've only been a member here for a short time and I can already see the same questions being asked over and over. I'm a member of a different forum where whenever a person starts a thread and asks the same old thing, a moderator will lock it and tell them to use the search. Even the suggestion to use the search is written in the forum rules, but it's normal for newbies not to follow it at first. I feel it was a good decision to start locking them, it teaches them quickly. They even ban people for starting fights, granted after a number of warnings. It has really kept it an enjoyable place to visit for years now.

I know what you mean by people simply posting just for the sake of posting. I've seen a number of threads get over 100 posts in one day where nobody is really saying anything. Threads like that are boring to read and difficult to sort out the valuable posts. I've seen a forum where they give out reprimand points for posting useless posts. After you get 30 points they ban you for 6 months. I'm not suggesting that this forum go that far, we don't want to live in a police state here. But writing a rule and giving out gentle reminders every now and then wouldn't hurt. There's already a rule in this forum about "Off Topic Postings", maybe they could expand on that and use it as a reason to close a thread.

The bottom line is, it's how the moderators moderate that ultimately stops a forum from getting out of hand. And the further it gets out of hand, the harder it is to pull back.

things always change. i've been here for years and considered leaving for good many times for similar reasons, and sometimes i do leave for days or weeks on end but come back eventually....

i dunno. i hate to see you go, but whatever, do what you want.

I appreciate all the feedback from ya! I will be around here and there, but probably wont post unless i feel the need. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy reading a good portion of your guys' posts......but half the time it's hard to find them inbetween all the useless ones from the peeps gumming up the threads.

I just need to go to a forum more geared towards the growing aspect of things.

And Donski, i totally hear what your saying! While i was just recently appointed a moderator here, i thought i would have alot more time to actually moderate! But i've been able to pick up quite a few more hours at work, and will be working out of town for a good peiod of time here shortly! So i've just been way to busy to be an active moderator here, and i do apologize to Skip for the misunderstanding. I have asked Skip to un-moderate me, but he has yet to do so.......so i don't know why im still accounted for as a moderator. But thats neither here nor there.

Anyway, take it easy all, and if for some reason you do have a question or something, you can PM me and ill respond when i get a chance! I'll be lurking here and there.

Take it easy. Too bad I didn't get the chance to get to know you better before you leave. I know what you mean about work and not enough time. Right now I'm unemployed, I'm a subcontractor so I can get called back at any time when my contractor gets work for us. But when I do work, it's usually 58 per week. That leaves very little time to be on line. You gotta do what you gotta do, and it's not like being a moderator here pays your bills.

^Yeah, it used to have a solid core group of 5-10 regulars, many of which (actually all) have dissapreared. It used to be a lot more civilized here, with inteligent educated conversation. And actually had original threads.
