I have smoked for years, and years, and years, and now im starting to look at my life, saying im 18 in two months, and I have no job, yet I expect to be independant on the day im 18, now, im starting to believe after smoking for so long, i have a lack of motivation to get a job, and get independant, any advice on how to bring my motivation back while still being able to smoke, REASONABLY?

It's not the cannabis, it's always the individual. Amotivational syndrome is a myth, plain and simple. Go out and get a job while sober, then celebrate with a smoke.

if you want to get your motivation back, imagine living on the streets, begging for scraps and rarely having a full belly. if that doesn't work, wait until you're actually in this situation. that should get you plenty motivated.

If you're 17 and have been smoking for years, why not give it a rest for a while while you straighten your life out? It's going to be hard saving money to move out and be independent if you can't control your use. If cutting it out altogether isn't an option, limit yourself to weekends or only a couple of times a week, and during the inbetween time be as productive as possible. I had the same problem as you. I was a deadbeat stoner. When I realized this I quit smoking for awhile and got a job, then slowly incorporated weed back into my life until I reached a happy medium of being productive and smoking pot.

if your 18, shouldnt you be going to college? you still have some years left, focus on school and getting a job, finish college, all while you can still smoke
