Anyone else endlessly fascinated by this? Often its done for cathartic reasons, like throwing a keepsake from a bad relationship into the ocean. Once in Washington State i threw a stone pipe shaped like an elephant that I had for 10 years way out there. I still think of it sometimes among the rocks, and wonder if it will ever be seen by human eyes again When my cousin and I were on a Carribean cruise, we threw some glasses overboard. Kind of freaks me out thinking of them at the bottom of the Bermuda Triangle
I threw a bottle in a river once...it had a note on it that said something ridiculous like, "I love macaroni and cheese" or something like that...unfortunately, it hit a rock and didn't get farther then that.
Just don't throw barrels of toxic waste in there y'hear? I remember seeing pictures of shoes laying on the bottom of the ocean where a body fell and had long since rotted away...near the Titanic.
It may be a sentimental thing for some people but when everybody's doing it, this happens http://www.independent.co.uk/environment/the-worlds-rubbish-dump-a-garbage-tip-that-stretches-from-hawaii-to-japan-778016.html Now that's freaky.
I've thrown bottles with letters in them.. letters.. it's like, throwing words in water is gonna make them heard or something.. it's weird.
that shit is crazy i wouldn 't throw plastic or trash in the ocean but I would throw stone, glass, or something small and metal...and I would think about it for the rest of my life on and off
it would be funny to throw some cinderblocks with some rope tied to them in a shallow creek, just to fuck with people.
i hear they spotted mermaids in that creek recently. i like throwing rocks in water because i enjoy the way they plop in. i also enjoy skipping stones. i don't like throwing trash in the water, especially glass, seeing as how growing up i had a river in my backyard and i constantly walked in it barefoot. when i was younger me and my dad used to throw M100s in the river. it's fun watching them explode underwater, but it's basically a fish holocaust so i haven't done it in years
At my grad "cruise" I thew a glasse in... it was kinda dumb now that I think about the ecological ramifications... like what if a little fish was swimming in its school and mistakenly swam into the glass only to get left behind and eventually eaten by a monster catfish `our river is a Tertiary of the Mississippi
On a couple of occasions, when I've tried to give up cigarettes, I've dropped the my remaining ones in the toilet and flushed. I find it very final. Unfortunately, I still smoke. I also flushed my last gram of coke ever down the pan. That worked. I haven't touched it since.
Throwing little bits of potassium metal creates fire on the water. Just don't throw a big baseball size chunk. .
