I was at the origainal woodstock in 1969.. it was good, bad, ugly and beautiful in all ways..I wish the world could have been there and maybe we would be living in peace by now...
Hendrix was cool.. bustin' up his guitar.. he was an awsome musician.. but the man behind the guitar was not the ideal..
well thank you soul.. I think.. the pinball wizard was cool and well the whole Tommy alblum.. I still like the Old Rock.. the new stuff dosen't take me anywhere.....I suppose that's because I never experienced any thing cool while listening to it.. But the Ol Rock.. I remember seeing all the bands before they were popular.. on hippie hill in golden gate park.. they would sit around and jam.. soon they started to group up and form bands.. like BB and the holding co.. the airplane and Canned Heat.. well they were all there at one time or another.. they were youngungs.. so was I..
I just burned an entirely all-woodstock cd, it rocks. but hasnt anyone else noticed that woodstock was pretty much nothing but a going out party for the original hippies? not the hippies themselves, but the movement was pretty much dead after woodstock. oh well, it still rocks. sadly tho, i didnt get any who on this cd, only song i could really find was 'summertime blues', and i really dont like that song. out of what ive heard, santana, country joe, arlo guthrie, jefferson airplane, and jimi had the best performances. csny and canned heat kicked major ass too, and janis, and the dead.....ill just stop now
Hippie Hill was like no other place on earth..it was love pure love... you could reach out and touch the colors they were so thick..it flowed through the air floating like a cloud of pasiley across the park.. thew music was non stop and wild..the people were like aliens with big eyes and grinnin' mouths..it will never be again.. neither will woodstock.. it was the first.. and can't be duplacated..like the first date.. the first kiss.. the first time... it was the first of it's kind.. there can never be another first
...and there was the old cowboy playing down by fisherman's wharf.Out of tune with a string or two missing. Not as good as Jerry, but you had to be there. It was all good...
What a way to capture someones attention! I wish I was and if it was on again I wouldn't go because it will never be the same with all the , chaos of the traffic, the great live bands and the general atmosphere. It must of been great. And yet what really anoys me is when people say "Oh I hate fucking Hippies, their so pointless and they never do anything" and they dont stop to realise, that festivals and big musical gatherings were started in the 60's and I dont think it was a coincidence that, that happened.
Ritchie was trippin' his brains out as was most of us at Woodstock...his guitar was smokin' for real.. he palyed like a man posessed... it was like a time warp that you were caught up in.. with waves and waves of half naked people and music coming from everywhere.. and the koolaid was electric..the eyes of the people were far far from this plane..I was quiet far out myself..
damn..it seems like that festival would have possibly been the best experience of anyones human and spiritual life...damn...i wish i could have been there. also how come no one has said anything about crosby stills nash...i mean shit. their performance of suite judy blue eyes is amazing to this day.
I never meant to un-include CBNY.. they were on fire They were/are one of my favs.. there were so many things going on at Woodstock..like I said the koolaid was electric.. btw..contry joe is making a comeback.. hold on to your hats folks.. the fun is just beginning
