Rock N' Roll and The Hippie Movement

My goal for the Personal Project (IB) was to research about Rock N' Roll music and how it affected the society and gradually I came to realization that the Hippie society was probably affected the most by it. However I could not find direct links between the two. I know that the famous artists like Jimi Hendrix showed huge support to the hippie society and that hippies were mainly interested in psychedelic music, but I still could not find how Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison showed their support. In what ways, what actions they did to support and how did they support the hippie society.
Another question that remained unanswered during my research was "how was the hippie society found?", "who found it?", and "Why?".
And the last question was "what was it exactly that hippie's wanted?" (I'm sure they realized that turning this world into Utopia is impossible)
