I was fiddling about with my hair when I kind of dreaded it, and I quite like it! I'm growing my hair out for dreads anyway, but I thought I'd show you lot this picture cos it's quote exciting having a dready look. And also cos I'll have to comb them out now
why must you comb them out now? go ahead and let your hair start creating your dreads if you want dreads anyhow, you're already partially started!
My hair's full of conditioner crap and I don't think my parents are quite ready to add dreads to the long list of things they dom't spprove of me doing.
Who gives a shit what your parents say? Your parents have loved, and will love you unconditionally. You're just at that age where you have to get your parents to stop controlling everything in your life. At first things are tough but eventually they get used to it and they see that you're really dedicated to whatever it is you're struggling for. When I first went Veggie, my mom and dad HATED it. They grounded my, took away my skateboard, grounded me some more, tried convincing me to eat meat but I didn't budge. They saw that I wasn't going anywhere and they came up to me and told me that they now support my decision. It all takes time hun, good luck. Namaste, John.
I'm getting the feeling my parents don't mind so much what I do, excluding drink or drugs (tough luck haha). I might dread it this summer, at the moment the back of my hair is a bit too short for it and I need to do some doctor bronners seeking. I was really worried about telling my parents I was vegetarian, but as long as I cook now and again everyone's fine about it! Got a tough new one now though, telling them I have a boyfriend. I've no idea whow they'll react to that!
i always used to stress out about telling my parents things. i would lie or make up stories to get them to accept facts about myself. they'd find out my lie every time and get upset - not at whatever i had lied about, but the fact i lied. as i get older, i realize my parents love me for who i am - regardless of how strange i must seem to them sometimes. i recommend being as honest as you can with your folks, you never know, they might surprise you.
Parents be damned. It's your life, your decision and as slyde said they will always love you. To most people hair is just for looks; prove to them that to you its something more than just a temporary hairstyle.
Use reverse psychology. Say, "mum, dad, sit down, I have something to tell you." When they ask what it is, say "I'm pregnant" Let them freak out and go mad. Then laugh, and calmly say "Only kidding, my boyfriend is too responsible for that" They'll be so relieved you're not pregnant, they'll overlook the fact you have just tod them you have a boyfriend, especially if you've just included the word 'responsible' in the same sentence.
Yeah... maybe not!!! Don't worry, I'll manage it soon, I persuaded my Mum that getting my nose pierced and going vegetarian were good ideas, so I'm sure I'll be able to sort something out.
